Hi Steve and thanks to be in this forum.

We all know that you work in analog until the very last step then you transfer to digital for the CD master. I am curious for two things.

    1. Do you use a 24bit converter and then convert to 16bit or you transfer directly to the 16bit CD master?

    2. If the first option is right, what kind of processing, dither and noise shaping you use to convert to get 16bit?

    Thanks for these technical answers.

Hmm...isn't going to 24-bit first just an extra, unnecessary step, considering you don't do any digital processing?

    Yes, Luke.

I was trying to be "larky" (funny).

    Guess I wasn't. Sorry.

And after the conversion it goes through the whosee-whats-it and the analog-tuba-miser and finally the proprietary Hoffman-O-Matic that makes the sound come back digital on the CD just the way he sent it to the pressing plant...
