The one person I who owns a Rega (RP6) tested it at 34rpm. That's unreasonably fast to me.

Love my RP3 (thanks @KT88 ). Turntabulator says 33.6. I wish it said 33.33, but see initial remark.

Not as measured on my P3 and P5's using the TT-PSU + groovetracer subplatter + white belt + a record actually playing (extra weight + friction/drag). I keep hearing that many of the decimal point higher speeds that are being measured with just the platter spinning.

I have no idea if my RP6 is fast, slow, or spot on.... and I plan on staying in the dark. It is stock, dead quiet, and I'm happy with it.

The Fremer videos have a shot of a chart on the wall which show the speed tolerances for the various rega models.

Its been a while since i watched it, but it was clear to me that the acceptable tolerances would result in more tables being shipped that run fast than slow.

There's a new Power Supply Unit coming from Rega that will have some sort of variable speed potentiometer. Is this a reaction to the speed criticism?

He certainly hasn't heard my Rega P3(2000). It's run at the right speed since I bought it in 2004. Either that or my CD player also runs too fast.

My experience mirrors Fremer's. I've measured the 3, 6, and 8 running various degrees of fast speeds out of the box....from 3 to 8 percent (measured with KAB strobe). My AC line voltage measures between 121 and 125 volts. Worked on my 8 some and have it dead on now.

I'm curious where you saw that, I haven't seen anything official on it, and would be kind of surprised, but someone here has mentioned it a few times.

  15. It was seen at the Bristol Hi Fi Show. Not date set.

not everything... he does not like their lack of vta adjustment or their proprietary alignment that does not match any typical industry standard.

This is the sort of stuff that drives me nuts about this forum. Folks here will obsess about skin-effect and jitter.... and (gasp!) tone controls (horror!).... but a record playing too fast....which impacts pitch, pace and timing in significant ways.... NO BIG DEAL!! FINE WITH IT!

The iPhone can identify your specific location, from space, by less than inches.

It can absolutely measure rotation speed to a hundredth of a second.

Anyone on a strict schedule, a 21 minute side takes only 19:32 to get through on a Rega. That's a savings of 1 minute, 28 seconds! :pleased:

The Stevenson geometry is used when their cartridges are in mention. They don't advocate that it's the best and only geometry to be used.
I agree with the lack of VTA adjust.....
Rega arguments that when done, rigidity is lost, a big detail in their designs......
