It was probably an Elvis 45, but from the ones I can remember, probably be Beatles solo related because I really got into 45s just after the Beatles broke up....
I remember my first 45, yes. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Seriously... it was Yes: "Owner of a Lonely Heart"/"Our Song"
Pretty sure it was The Ballroom Blitz (The Sweet). I was probably 11 or 12, got it at the Ben Franklin store.
I started buying music in 1969 and the truth is I have never bought a single 45 single. This I guess could be considered and exception... Depeche Mode – Personal Jesus Label: Sire – 9 21328-2, Reprise Records – 9 21328-2, Mute – 9 21328-2 Format: CD, Maxi-Single, SRC Country: US Released: Sep 19, 1989 Genre: Electronic Style: Acid House, Synth-pop Sort of a single with 8 versions of the same song...
I didn't actually buy it, rather I traded a bunch of little plastic soldiers (we called them "army men") for Queen's "Killer Queen" 45. Think it was late 74, but since this is SHF I fully anticipate being corrected!
I had a bunch of my parents 45’s, but I think the first one I bought was Mr. Jaws by Dickie Goodman in ‘75. That was the year we went to Florida for vacation and no one was getting in the water. I also got C.W. McCall’s “Convoy” and Rick Dees “Disco Duck” at some point too. Looking back, the use of all those song clips would have been cost prohibitive in today’s market.
Same here, but I think my first was "Conquistador" by Procol Harum. (hey where's @Terrapin Station ?)
I know for sure it was 1975, from Sounds records in Astoria, NY. I was five. The question is, which 45 was it? By release date, I’m guessing it was Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell. also possibilities: Mr. Jaws by Dickie Goodman Boogie Fever by the Sylvers Convoy by CW McCall Pretty sure that it was Glen, though.
