    Isn't show & tell wonderful?

Great pics, Steve. Nice to finally see Diana Reid Haig. She did a few early MCA comps I still enjoy to this day: the Kenny Rogers hits collection(from the Reprise masters)and a rockabilly comp. I might have a few others. On that Rogers CD, she left in all the hiss, but the sound is dynamite! That's still a favorite, a natural, honest mastering where you can really feel the music close to you.

    Thanks!:righton:

    Steve,

I used to own a pair of JBL 4312 studio monitors. I had them placed so the LFE was on the bottom, the midranges were closest to center and the tweeters were farthest out.

I noticed in your picture that you have the LFE at the top. Did you master Hotel California with the monitors in this configuration? Do you think the monitors sound better as such?

    I'm just curious. Thanks.

I noticed how the Slinky remained on the desk, in the same spot, even though the equipment around you changed.

    Gamma Guy,

I have them the "factory spec" way. Why do you think the printing is right side up? These are meant to be hung from the ceiling. That is why they are configured this way.

I liked them low to the ground like this so that annoying tweeter didn't break my lil' ears.

    Great pics, Steve!

Just for chronilogical clarity; which came first: Chatsworth or Northridge? The look of the sun through those blinds behind you remind me of those summers in the San Fernando Valley; hot and smoggy! And there was always something making the news...

BTW, I was the Northridge mailman who always ate at Taco Bell across from DCC at Tampa and Rinaldi. Tell some tales here; who were the folks who ate at Taco Bell much too often??

I forgot about the Taco Bell, Michael!

Dunhill started in Northridge at Tampa and Roscoe in 1986. I started there a while later. The company moved to bigger digs in Chatsworth in 1995.

Now that you have seen some the people, I can't very well say who pigged out at Taco Bell now can I? That would be cruel...;)

By the way, no smog in Chatsworth. That's in the West Valley and the wind from the canyons blew the smog eastward.

Right, right, Tampa and Roscoe... My mail route was there-see what smog does to the memory...? That was the era I was around there. I met you at the Stereophile show at LAX in 1995, and left California weeks later. After meeting Steve Hoffman, what was left?

Yes, when I think of Chatsworth (I lived cross-corner from CSUN on Lassen in Northrigde) I think of shaded streets, Topanga Canyon and a nice view of the valley. These are the memories of a mailman. Not a lot of mean dogs either... Good record store on Reseda too- Was it Record Trader? Is it still there? And Moby Disc on Topanga... ah, memories...

Well, I know you wouldn't spill the refried beans! Now we will have to look and just speculate!

BTW, the photo of Clair Marlo: Very pretty woman, but the hair, the clothes, the apartment with the air-conditioner in the wall, these all scream "early 1980's!"

And I'll bet SHE didn't eat at Taco Bell too often! :)
