I loved Miami Vice as a teenager and have been doing a "rewatch" of it. Sadly I couldn't find the opening scene of the episode Streetwise (featuring very young Bill Paxton and Wesley Snipes) which plays as a straight up music video but here's the song that gave the episode it's title. It's no Heartbeat.

Yeah, I enjoyed his album. Very 80s sounding production but good hooky songs (nothing by the Bergmans) and Johnson’s vocals are excellent.

I really enjoy the "Heartbeat" album. I bought it on clearance at my local Woolworths store back in the day for £1.99 on the basis of liking the title track. Standout tracks for me were "Voice On A Hotline", "The Last Sound Love Makes", "Coco Don't", "Heatache Away" and "Gotta Get Away" although it's a good listen from start to finish. I really like his voice and a lot of great talent was involved in the making of this album.

Yeah thats Deeezil in the video. Good song but Johnson sings just about as well as Cybil Sheppard.

It wasn’t my cup of tea at the time, but now I can say I like it. You can’t fault Don’s voice or the impressive talent behind the album. There have been far, far worse albums from actors.
He definitely didn’t embarrass himself with the end result.

I just picked up the cassette at Goodwill a couple weeks ago for a buck (it was thrashed, clearly having spent a long time in somebody's car) - and thus checked in with my nostalgia, passed over the vinyl when I saw a $3 copy a couple days ago.
