found another fold out poster in one of these ! if somebody is a fan and low on ca$h, im willing to part with one that has double sided tape on the back
I no longer possess it, but I'm pretty sure I used to have a programme, rather than a poster, from a concert in Glasgow in December 1973 which featured the images from the front and back cover of Essence to Essence and quoted the first verse of The Dignity of Man. He sang a particularly good version of There Is a Mountain, placing an unusual stress on "The lock upon my garden gate's a snail" and jazzing it up with a bit of falsetto scatting and yowling - I know because I made a lo-fi bootleg with my little cassette recorder. Wish I still had it.
Nice one! I saw Donovan in Croydon on that same tour. What I remember about the concert programme was an advert for the single of Sailing Homeward, which he’d played on the BBC a year earlier. It’s still one of my favourites of his. After the concert, I nicked several display copies of the sleeve of the as yet unreleased Essence To Essence.
Great history of those guys. It's impressive how much you're in to them. their success, and successes writing for and producing others, was phenomenal . For me, the few popular songs Ive known well from radio (definitely not thier disco) are as good as it gets. I picked up the Capitol Best Of Vol 2 for .... most of them, but nothing else on it appealed to me. Surprisingly, because they did have some of the best sounds and songs. Someone refered me to .... maybe it was the A Kick In The Head title ?, but when I did hear whatever it was it didn't grab me. I'll give vol. 2 a spin again later.
I wish you did too ! Are you sure the program wasn't a / the yellow foldout that I posted, not too far back? I myself don't know of an actual program like that and I probably would have seen one somewhere by now. It sounds like it would be a great one to find a copy of. I forget what was on the other side, but the poster side of that yellow foldout (the only copy ive seen) was far too valuable for me not to mount , and to preserve
I think so. I remember he began with Operating Manual ... and Divine Daze ... and Only a Working Man and The Ferryman Her Father were played at some point.
