Drag City's Deal of the Week thread

I've been taking advantage of this a lot lately, surprised that no one else has posted about it yet. Basically, every week Drag City cuts the price on a catalog title to $8 for LP, CD or FLAC download (the price might vary a little depending on if the record is a 2xLP, etc) and what's best of all is that they don't charge for shipping, so $8 is really $8. So far I've filled holes in my Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and Alasdair Roberts collections, it's become pretty exciting to see what pops up every week. I'll endeavor to keep updating this!

Wow, thanks. I've bought direct from Drag City a few times before and I seem to recall it taking a ZILLION YEARS to get to me.

Yeah, irect mailorder has never been their top priority, although I can't really complain about their recent service - both of the "deal of the week" items I ordered came within a month, and they were both ordered around the holidays. For $8 including shipping I'm not going to quibble about them taking a week or two to send off my order.

 

Yeah, I was more salty about it when I was paying full fare for, oh, Smog back catalog or whatever. For $8 and free ship, I don't expect white glove treatment by any means.

 

Is the News section of their website the best place to find out what the new Deal of the Week is?

I am going to try and keep up with the DOTW and post each week's item, but yes the DC news page is the best place to keep up with this.

Six Organs Of Admittance "Shelter From The Ash" LP/CD/MP3/FLAC

Pretty appropriate since the new Six Organs album comes out next week - "Shelter" isn't my favorite, but it's good if you're in the mood for the "electric" side of the band.

 

Anybody else really enjoying that Silver Jews CD?

 

I got the LP a couple of days ago but haven't opened it yet. Good stuff?

 

I love it! I was really surprised. I just ordered their next two albums after the one we have which was their first.

I liked the first Silver Jews CD enough that I bought American Water and The Natural Bridge used online. They aren't here yet but I paid more than $8 for each.

It's my favorite Silver Jews album by a long shot. Great bargain at $8.

Can't wait to replace my CD of this one with the 2xLP!

 

Drag City is the only label I've seen release vinyl and download without CD. I hope that doesn't become a trend. Or at least later rather than sooner.
