Ed Sheeran is officially the biggest, most attended and highest grossing of all time.

Or to paraphrase, Ed Sheeran's the most gross performer there's ever been. The absolute grossest. None more gross than Ed, ever.

 

Run for cover Ed because here come all the slings and arrows.

 

But he doesn't perform under a giant insect, does he?

 

I confess that I don't understand the excitement relating to him. Someone in work listens to him on the backshift and his music and songs sound bland as anything to me.

Hats off to him though as he's certainly made the most of what talent he has.

 

i don't think i've heard a single ed sheeran song. does he not tour as a single musician, no other people on stage with him? if so, 736 million dollars is a huge amount of money to not have to split 4 ways like u2 did (not that he's taking home 736 million). its a mind boggling amount of money. its incredible really. good for him.

 

No one should be this popular.

Should I start to like him, then? Or just add him to the Beyonce/Kanye/Swift/... nonsense ignore list?

*Admittedly I saw Tracy Chapman solo open the Amnesty concert at the LA Coliseum in 1988 from the back seats and she was absolutely spellbinding.

 

Right now there are endless artists around the world playing for absolutely nobody.
It's about time we "socialize" popularity!!!

 

Yup. Just lil ol' Ed, his guitar and some loop pedals. Aw shucks etc.

And from the looks of things, he isn't spending a whole lot of money on a stage set up or stage clothes.

Pretty soon, Ed is going to have more money than Macca.

Yup. Don't be fooled by the old 'humble, scruffy busker' shtick. Sheeran wants the world. And he has nearly succeeded in getting it.

OMG... it is true!

 

Sheeran has beat U2 by about $300,000, still in a tour that's had double the number of their shows. It's a win for sure, and all the congratulations to him, but comparatively speaking...

dude is making 2.9 million per show, doesn't have to pay an annoying drummer, a moody bassist or an obnoxious lead guitarist. playing to an average of 33,744 people a night, all by himself.

 

Boo, U2 deserves it more, kinda a shame. Much better music.

He also had to do twice the amount of shows to barely pull ahead.

 

At least he made it without appearing on "America/Britain's got Talent" or the "X Factor!"
(I think so anyway - I don't know enough about him to be sure.)
