I saw an interview with Elton John on BBC breakfast this morning (part of larger interview that will air this evening) and it took place in his listening room. He loves vinyl and his collection is impressive as one would expect. His turntable is quite humble for a man of his means - a Stanton St 150. I am of course not saying that he should have some huge monstrosity sitting there but it was kind of nice to see him 'keep it real', so to speak. I am not sure of his speakers but I am sure someone on here will be able to identify them.

Elton has always been a music-first audiophile. He is an avid record collector and has been known to pop up in local independent record stores to buy vinyl while out on tour.
Meet him twice both in record stores. First time in 1973 Sam Goody’s in NYC and second time in Atlanta’s Tower in late nineties.
When I saw the subject of the thread, I thought it might have been referring to his hairpiece. But seriously, I like that he cares about his audio system quality. It made me shudder, in contrast, to see Herbie Hancock doing promotions for BOSE several years ago.
I imagine he’s a hand-on enthusiast who seem intensively involved in his listening choices, but I don’t know for sure.
Skepticism about superstars being personally invested and knowledgeable about their hifi kit is certainly warranted, but Elton John strikes me as someone who probably cares deeply and knows what he’s doing and what he wants.
Love the history and the fact that Elton is thoughtful with his system components and not simply throwing money at it. Way to go Rocket Man
No disrespect to Elton or his gear, but I'd say he didn't even spend 10 minutes on this. It's hard to imagine that this is what he would ended up with after a real conversation with either his local hifi dealer or a personal assistant...."Hi Bob, this is E. Please pop round, take a look at my room, and bring me something great for piano and vocals. Keep it to $1ooK or so..." With only the photos to go on, I would say he is one of our most gifted musicians, but not an audiophile in the sense of caring about sound quality at home (I cannot access video--I hope someone can send a link--so please forgive the above if he's waxing poetic on the speakers or something)
If you think someone like Elton John ever actually pays money for stereo equipment I'd say you're crazy. However I totally accept I could be wrong.
Do you reckon he Ultrasonically cleans? Maybe he has a old broken RP1 for cleaning, with one of those vacuum wands? Would he have ever tried the glue method? Reckon he has ever discog'd himself? ...so many questions...
