Elvis master tape for sale - 2 inches at a time!

Just saw this article "The Reel Elvis" in today's Newark, NJ Star Ledger:

Interesting comment by RCA's Jorgensen. Doesn't sound like this is an actual Sun master tape. If it was would you cut it up and sell it for big bucks?

 

An interesting read but I seriously doubt that this could be the absolute, original 1st generation master. I was under the assumption that RCA actually destroyed the masters many years ago. I hope I am wrong and that in reality, they are all safe in RCA's vault.

The thought of destroying an Elvis master tape (especially a Sun tape!)
makes me ill.
