It appears on the set list at the Marquee Club in London 811/70 and Winter Gardens, Malvern, England 8/14/70, so possibly other shows of the August '70 tour of England. None that I listened to has the crazy slide playing. This version sounds like it would be more like where they were at on the US tour.

Doyle Bramhall II is along for the ride on the current tour. He must still like having a 2nd guitarist.

Wow, this is an unexpected release. Great to see 'Bell Bottom Blues' on there, amongst a few other favourites. Instant LP pre-order for me.

Acoustic "Layla"? o_O I'd be disappointed if I went.

    No "Cocaine"?

I saw the Sept 15 Austin show. First time to see Clapton and I quite enjoyed it. He's not as flashy as he was when he was young but my big takeaway from the show was "Clapton sounds like Clapton".

I was very impressed with Doyle Bramhall II. He sounded great and fit in with Clapton's sound perfectly. In fact, it was sometimes impossible to tell who exactly was playing what without looking. The show opened with "Pretending" and Bramhall played lead guitars up until the instrumental break when Clapton played his lead. In fact, Bramhall shouldered a big part of guitar duties while Clapton was singing.

Glad I went. Now I think I'd like to see Bramhall when he's headlining.

After Midnight sounds pretty good, a slightly different arrangement and Eric in good voice. These guys have been playing together so long now, things just seem to fall in place musically. While I like Chris Stainton, I wish they’d ditched the Digital Yamaha and brought in a Grand for this project.

Speaking of instruments, is that a Gibson ES-335 in the guitar rack behind Eric? We know 3 tracks feature electric guitar and maybe we’ll get some 335 tones on this one.

I don't give two craps what musicians think about this or that issue. If I like the music, I'm in.

There's a nice article with Simon Climie on recording this forthcoming release:

Peter Green’s “Oh Well” plus the blues “Need Your Love So Bad,” which he performed in Fleetwood Mac’s early days, were also recorded at Cowdray House but not included in the upcoming release.

    Simon concluded,

I recorded everything. There are usually quite a few songs that Eric has recorded that are absolutely stunning but maybe he’ll feel they aren’t quite right for this particular record. You get a lot of incredible takes. “River of Tears,” for example, he did it electric, he did it acoustic, he did it 12-string but it’s ended up as a magical version. Chris kept doing these great string parts and we’re like “how’s he doing that?” It’s ridiculous!

A pity about these Peter Green tracks, I would have loved to hear them. Complete article here: https://www.whereseric.com/eric-clapton-news/303-simon-climie-recording-lady-balcony
