That pout! I'm enthralled. I had the DVD of The Whales of August (Lillian Gish and Bette Davis were in it) , shouldn't have sold it...
I can recommend the U.S. BD from Kino Lorber: The Whales of August (30th Anniversary Special Edition)
Love this pic of her, saw it for the first time yesterday.... Barbara Stanwyck, a Ziegfeld girl Barbara Stanwyck - Wikipedia Ziegfeld Follies - Wikipedia
Mae Busch, best known for her memorable appearances in 1930's Laurel and Hardy films, who also happened to be... ...the aunt of 1960's actress the fetching Brenda Scott.
Margaret Tallichet 1914 – 1991 Professionally Active 1937 – 1941 Very short career. Best known for her leading role in “The Stranger on the Third Floor” with Peter Lorre, 1940.
I guess I'd rate Bette Davis the best sound actress of the silver screen, and Lillian Gish of the silents. Luise Rainer, Joan Crawford, Gloria Swanson, Carole Lombard, Claudette Colbert, Louise Brooks, Simone Singoret... all up there too. Nice to learn of some lower profile actresses here though! The ill-fated Ziegfeld graduate Olive Thomas certainly might've had a celebrated career if she had lived longer... Glad to see she has already been been included!
Irene Delroy (real name Josephine Sanders) shown below center in the movie "The Life of the Party" (1930). A former Ziegfeld girl, she retired from acting in 1931. So cute.
