What are your favorite albums to listen to with headphones? Mine are-Sgt Peppers,Electric Ladyland,If I Could Only Remember My Name,Led Zeppelin III,Who's Next.
Any Floyd album. Even Final Cut has some cool affects going on that you don't really get until you hear them with headphones. Led Zep II
I'll second the every Pink Floyd album answer! Also worthy of note: Steely Dan: Gaucho Rush: Counterparts Led Zeppelin: Houses of the holy Hum: Downward is heavenward Supertramp: Crime of the century
A couple that come to mind right now:- Roxy Music, Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother. (particularly Alan's Psych' Breakfast).
Radiohead OK Computer Radiohead Amnesiac Pink Floyd DSotM Coldplay A Rush of Blood to the Head Beck Odelay Ride Nowhere Björk Homogenic Depeche Mode Black Celebration
DSOTM and parts of The Wall. Nowhere Man from the Yellowsub songtrack. Some other Beatles stereo albums.
I've been getting major headphone jollies lately from XTC's "Apple Venus Vol. 1." A stunning production! L.
The Who Sell Out (original mix) Abbey Road Firesign Theater-Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Pliers Their Satanic Majesties Request Beach Boys-Sunflower Just noticed---500 posts---Yeee Haaah!!
Klaus Schulze: Mirage Especially side 2. The ping-pong sequencer effects are the most hypnotic I've ever heard (and I've heard quite a few, believe me).
AMEN Brother! Sgt. Peppers... I alos like to listen to "All You Need is Love" Love the big band playing that "in the Mood" lick in there... love it!
"Fly Like an Eagle" -Steve Miller Band and there is a very good version out there on cd, anyone know the version Im speaking of? if not look in Steve's discography!
A stoner dude who lived down the hall from me in college always had his Senheisers slapped on and a Gamma LP spinning away - can't remember which one it was, but it was pretty killer stuff through the cans... Seems like Klaatu's Calling Occupants and Anus From Uranus were also pretty headphonerific...
Piper at the Gates of Dawn Axis Bold as Love My Bloddy Valentine: Loveless Radiohead : OK Computer and Kid A Chris
A lot of great music listed here - headphones or no One track in particular that springs to mind is The Prophet's Song from Queen - A Night at the Opera All the best - Andrew
The Last Waltz-(Rhino Box set) There is so much happening in this music, it's easy to miss some of it without headphones. Yes- Fragile (DVD-A stereo layer of course) fantastic! McCartney-(DCC Gold Disc, of course!) Miles Davis-Kind Of Blue- (so intimate and headphone listening makes it even more intimate!) The Who- Live At Leeds Led Zeppelin-How The West Was Won (I listened to all of disc one and part of disc two today while running.) Wow! So much power, it's almost scary. At times, Jimmy Page sounded like two guitarists. They were certainly at a performing peak during this period. I'm only a casual Led Zeppelin fan and this material knocked me out. Recorded by Eddie Kramer! (Jimi fans take note). Can't wait to get to the rest of it and watch the DVD too. Now, if only I could take a couple of days off to really get immersed in it all!
I believe a couple Lou Reed albums were mastered binaurally. Wouldn't that mean they're intended for headphone playback? Unfortunately, I don't know if that carried over for the CD remastering. Suzanne Vega's SOLITUDE STANDING was mastered for headphone playback. It remains one of the best-sounding pop discs I've heard.
