Read recently that many of those guitars had to be sold following his death to pay inheritance tax...I find it incredible that they weren’t advised to plan accordingly...especially given their lifestyles and history...

 

I believe his son held a big auction. Is that right? I recall reading through the years that he was often broke.

 

That’s right. A real shame for the family...

True, but so do expensive collecting hobbies, like guitars, suits of armour, cars and others. John also, if he liked a shirt, or boots or something would always buy multiples of the item in various colours. Expensive.

 

Poor John's lifestyle was just like Keith's, just at a somewhat slower pace.
