In the US I'd say the lp overtook the 45 by 1967. Maybe the UK as well, given that Pepper had no singles pulled from it. That said, to me, Michelangelo may be the most perfect psychedelic single ever, and The 23rd Turnoff never cut an album.

Well, it ends a long time before 1975, but all three JHE albums would count, IMO.

Not only is it great, I feel like it seems less dated.
When Syd sings about sitting on a unicorn, it sounds natural, not forced like say Incense and Peppermints for example

I have too many favorites to pick one, but Kaleidoscope's Side Trips is a personal topper that hasn't already been mentioned.

I have now narrowed down my two choices to either Ultimate Spinach or The Paupers first album:

But like I wrote before, it's too hard of a question to ask. Should do a Top 5 Psych 45s from '66 - '69.

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

The Kinks "See My Friends" is probably my favorite early (July 1965 -- which even pre-dates the OP's era for such) psychedelic song, but for an entire LP it would definitely be:

are you experienced album - Bing images

    Have you ever been Experienced?
    Not necessarily stoned
    But... beautiful.

I have always liked this album but every time I listen to it I end up wishing Big Brother &
the Holding Company was a better band. At times they are embarrassingly bad.
IMHO: First rate vocal talent with third rate back-up band, why couldn't anyone find her an excellent blues band?

That was a nice cover. I wonder who the artist 'Kipps' was and what else he did?

Although lacking in musicianship they are the most passionate of any JJ participated in.If JJ had not let Albert Goldman lead her around by her nose and away from her family of San Fran freaks(who DID love her)she might still be alive.Peace.

Trower kept up the spacey, tripped out heaviness of Jimi style guitar up until 1975 and LZ did have Kashmir and In the Light for that psych-prog journeying.
Speaking of which, so did some early Journey.

For those SHF Members listing 'Meddle', I see it's main song(and my favorite PF Song), 'Echoes' as Space-Rock more than Psychedelic-Rock. Maybe the same for 'One of These Days'. I do not see any of the other songs on 'Meddle' as Psychedelic-Rock. This is just my take on it though, as I think of the Syd Era as the Psychrdelic-Rock part of the Pink Floyd Catalog.. Then with Gilmour on board, there was a shift to Space-Rock, until Waters took over in their last few albums(The Wall & TFC), before he left the band.
