A great song I like a lot. After Karen passed away it took me months to listen to it. I was deeply saddened by her passing so for some strange reason the line "There are no tomorrows for this heart of mine" would always bring me to tears.

It was one of my immediate favorites too, mainly because growing up my entire Carpenters collection consisted of used copies (purchased from garage sales) of following the albums Offering/Ticket To Ride, A Song For You, and Now & Then, along with a few singles. It wasn't until the early 1980s that I was able to get more of their albums. "Goodbye To Love" was my favorite Carpenters song, until I heard "I Need To Be In Love."

Now that I think about it, right below "I Need To Be In Love" are the following songs that compete as my second favorite Carpenters song:
    • Trying To Get The Feeling Again
    • Goodbye To Love
    • Love Me For What I Am

A very sombre Lilac Time doing Gone for a Burton, a phrase being a euphemism for being missing in wartime, particularly aviators:

"I Wish It Would It Rain" by the Temps. The only aspect that keeps it from being unbearably sad is those bird sounds.

I saw Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore do an acoustic show Friday night where they swapped songs (more than half were covers) and shot the bull. It was a wonderful show. One of the highlights was the two of them swapping verses on Woody Guthrie's 'Deportee (Plan Wreck at Los Gatos)'. It was perhaps the most poignant moment in a pretty fun evening.
