it was not the actor but the script ! trying to make Wild Wild West into Men in Black in the west movie!
It might have worked with the right script, director and restraint on Smith’s part. Honestly, I always saw George Clooney in the role. He’s too old now but it would have been fun.
bonfires of the vanity was known for it is notorious miscasting among other mistakes: sherman mcCoy - tom hanks - william hurt would have been a better fit maria ruskin - melainie griffith -michelle pfieffer would have better (she turned down the role) peter fallow- bruce willis- john hurt or ian mcKellan (he was a bit older and british in the book) the judge- morgan freeman - alan arkin-he was jewish in the book. in fact, he was cast, but the producers changed the character to an african-american for fear that there was no sympathetic black characters in the movie.
I enjoyed some of his movies...it seems he tries very hard to absorb the part...I've seen much worse.
I think he needs a director who has the time and patience to make him recite his lines enough that he sounds natural. Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore too.
obviously someone likes them as got lots of work throughout the years...I have no problem with any of them...I do have problems with actors who don't know when to keep their mouths shut and constantly put their foot in their big mouths...
have you watched any of his movies? or just do not because you can't stand looking at him? I'm telling you The Family Man is a wonderful "What If" movie...
OK< I give up...but if one day you get to see The Family Man let me know...I do see you have a STRONG opinion and that's cool...
I would say all of these movies are fabulous and he has several more that are almost fabulous. Moonstruck Rumble Fish Peggy Sue Got Married Wild At Heart Raising Arizona Honeymoon In Vegas
wow! he was perfect for the part he played and his narration was spot on...my opinion...Hmmm, you may be the only one, and that's cool...
