Interesting...both you and @The Slipperman had poor sounding versions (both an EU and a US) of that title...maybe it is just the worst sounding of the bunch.

The Number of the Beast sound pretty awful too. Not even close to the original release.

Probably just a repress of the 2014 vinyl masters but possibly much better pressings if they are done by a different plant this time around...but that's pure speculation.

I am not seeing represses of the 180g Bellmans anywhere online.

    80's albums were not Bellmans.

Tell me more about these Bellman mastered Maiden albums...

I think Bellman did BNW and all the albums after that.

Current reissues of No Prayer For The Dying onwards are Bellman cuts.

Ah. Was hoping it would be for everything before No Prayer...

They're not Bellman mastered, they are only lacquer cut by him as they supposedly use the 2015 remaster hi-res files. They sound damn good though, best these 90's-00's albums ever have.

Crap, sorry! Too many tabs open - thought I was replying in a Van Halen thread.

I have BNW and Dance of Death reissues, those were cut by Bellman? Forgot about that. Very nicely done, pressing/package-wise.

    Hey,
I need information about the EU 2014 Killers and Piece of mind please. Are they good?

I believe they're decent but not up to the level of good originals.
The U.S. PoM, in particular, is one GREAT slab of vinyl.... I'd seek out a good copy of that one if you want the best possible mastering.
This is the one I have, just the standard STERLING cut.

I’ve compared both and nothing beats the UK Utopia pressing of POM.

Good luck finding a NM (nothing lower is worth buying) copy at a decent price though...;)

    Yes, they are good.

Obviously original cuts are gonna be better, but these are not bad at all...(and much better than the ear-bleeding CD remasters)...

Yep, I actually noticed that when I added the Discogs link. I think I paid $10 for my NM copy at a local store, probably 5-6 years ago. The reissue campaign did nothing to keep the (much better) originals from increasing in value.

Hell, I think I got a NM Japanese copy of NoTB for $40 shipped around the same time. Comparable to a UK first press, maybe not as forward, but very quiet vinyl and "Total Eclipse" in the mix too. I suspect that's gotta be a $75+ record by now.

Prices have surely risen since 2012 because back then I remember picking up vintage Maiden vinyl in top condition for 10€. Still these 80's albums are so plentiful... even today they won't cost more than a new album. Japanese vinyl and the albums from "Fear Of The Dark" onwards are a different story.

    Hi all :)
I found an original 1981 Netherland pressing of Killers.
I'm not home so I cat check it out just yet but I was going together the 2014 new version of that same album.
Can anyone tell me what this original Netherland version sounds like ? Is it OK ? Or should I just keep it for collection's purpose ?

Merry Xmas to you all :)

I managed to get that same pressing off eBay for barely 10 bucks, VG-ish, in 2009, before the whole vinyl thing started to go bonkers. I think George Marino cut it? And heck yeah, it slays.

My UK POM is in mint condition, very lucky to have found that copy on eBay years ago for a steal, and it’s literally the best I’ve heard this album. I’m sure the condition helps in releasing all its sonic goodness.

If you can find one for a reasonable price I highly recommend it.

I picked one up not too long ago in pretty good condition, too. Pretty happy with it. The US pressing I have is no slouch though. I've heard good things about the Powerslave UK pressing as well. My US sounds great. Haven't heard a Japanese release which supposedly is great, too.
