Only one that really springs to mind at the moment to recommend is Andy Summer’s 4+ minute guitar solo on “Coloured Rain” by The Animals. Incredible

Yes that is correct...as under appreciated as Hendrix was acclaimed

Been listening to Agharta since its 1975 Japan release, my 2nd favorite Miles fusion record behind Jack Johnson

My favourite Miles live record (as of recently) is "In Concert". It used to be "Dark Magus" but now I'm finding "In Concert" to be absolutely out of this world!

    1. The entire Nashville West CD, but for the sake of a song, “Mental Revenge.” Clarence’s playing on that disc expanded my understanding of the guitar from the circumscribed pentatonic blues-rock stuff to the beauty of diatonic scales and beyond.
    2. Wilco- Impossible Germany, any live version. Nels Cline’s vocabulary on the guitar defies categorization. The best I’ve ever heard is probably his solo from the 2017 Newport Folk Festival.
    3. Cream- Crossroads. Still remains the standard for blues-rock guitar playing for me. The fluidity is simply perfect. Interestingly, I’ve never heard another live version of this song on any bootleg that comes close to the famous one.
    4. Jimi Hendrix/Band of Gypsies- Machine Gun. Is it even still considered guitar playing?
    5. The Who- My Generation, Live at Hull. Townshend is criminally underrated as a guitarist, both in terms of his technicality and tone. A viscerally expressive player who somehow didn’t succumb to blues-rock tropes that were in vogue at the time, and understood how to be the only guitarist in a 4 piece band (unlike a certain guitarist whose last name is 4 letters long, and whose live playing has never impressed me one iota). Tone-wise, the sound of a P-90-laden SG plugged into a Hiwatt CP103 with a Superfuzz is my holy grail tone for rock guitar. Though Leeds is the better show for the band, his guitar playing during the Hull show might be better, and nowhere does it shine more than on this ultimate number.
