This would be a great comp! I like how disc 1 is the Apple years, disc 2 the main Dark Horse years, and disc 3 is post come back. Not much I would change.

Very nice compilation. The only omission for me is The Answer's At The End - my favorite song from Extra Texture.

Did George ever play the harmonica on any Beatle recordings? (not that I know of). I bring this up because of Apple Scruffs. And you shouldn't try to play with a long beard.

George certainly deserves a proper comp, and yours is very good. I suspect i could boil it down to two discs for myself, but you did a great job.

John, George, Ringo, Mal and Neil Aspinall all had a blow on the harmonica. Why did they need so many people playing the harmonica?

The Beatles were trying to get a Phil Spector-type Wall Of Harmonica Sound... ;)

  12. And this is why I LOVE this forum. I learn something new every day ...and today this was it. I've never seen pictures from this session before. Thanks!

George also tuned his guitar with a harmonica (August 1966, Philadelphia):

George has some noticeable stubble there. I haven't seen many pictures of him with facial hair before late 1966.

It's interesting how the three parts of his solo career (Apple years, middle years, comeback period) fit three discs really well.

My only complaint with the track listing is that within each original album, the tracks are in the original running order. I would randomise or logically re-sequence them. In particular, the first four songs are four consecutive songs from ATMP, so for the first 22 minutes of this, I would effectively forget that I'm not listening to the original album. (I'm assuming version 1 of Pity.)

That said, I personally would re-sequence the whole album so that it's not chronological. For me, a very large part of such compilations is recontextualising very familiar songs. Harrison is probably the easiest Beatle to re-sequence. But it's the OP's playlist, and he stated a preference for chronological. Just stating mine.

Well done. I agree with 90% and that’s saying something around these parts.

When I make playlists like this, I usually put the songs in chronological order. Might not always flow properly but to me it all fits cause it’s in the right order.

But I totally agree with you, changing the order of the songs would be a really good idea, I just have some trouble with it.

Great job @Haristar , superb compilation! I used to have one of my own on tape, but missing a lot of essential tracks as I didn't know enough of his catalogue back then, but mine was called "Here Comes The Taxman". I will definitely resurrect (and improve) that compilation sometime :)

Agreed. When I first heard the album, it was the bonus track edition and while it ended with "Circles", hearing that demo of "Mystical One" made it a bitter sweet end to the album.
