Their success was definitely influenced with the decision to go with their first choice of name, which had a stylized “$” at the end of their name, especially in the US.

No sense of wackin’ the hornets with stick when the practice of Payola is still sporadically done.

And first released by the amazing Randy Crawford on her 1976 album Everything Must Change (although I think the sheer cheese of Charlene's version puts it in first place - especially with the spoken part in place).

Speaking of Randy, she had some fairly well known hits in the '80s that feel all but forgotten these days. You Might Need Somebody, One Day I'll Fly Away, Secret Combination, or this one from 1986:

Randy Crawford: Almaz (live on Top Of The Pops)

She really should have been a huge global success, but at least she's been successful enough to maintain a career for 40+ years.

I recently heard Love Plus One (Haircut 100) while shopping at Marc's a local grocery store. They often play 80's songs

6stringer ...because it's the music that matters.

I found it on an 80's CD some years ago along with the 7" I've had since the time it came out. Sources for it aren't plentiful but I'll take the song anyway I can get it!

Here's a very nice soft rock ballad from British one-hit wonder Judie Tzuke. She should have gone far with this level of talent...

Judie Tzuke - Stay With Me Till Dawn (#16 UK in 1979, #8 Australia in 1980)

That’s a great song as well but I included this one only because it had more success overall worldwide.

I think this got some play on VH1 well into the new millennium, co-written by Stephen Bray, he's playing drums in this video. Extended version is fun

For a song to be forgotten it had to have been known in the first place. Therefore a hit at, at least at some level
