Here is a band that most of you will not know. Even in Europe they are nearly forgotten I think. They had their best albums in the 70s and they played great rocknroll, not punk. Their mastermind, of course called Little Bob, is still active. Listen to the band! Their debut with thrilling songs. Still today it sounds so great. https://youtu.be/8x9s0zMeyM4 Only 25 minutes pure energy! https://youtu.be/8x9s0zMeyM4 This is their high energy number I'm crying!! https://youtu.be/owUbQy74qDY Here is a short video clip. https://youtu.be/aG5lmXPQizU So I hope you like the band and I hope nevertheless some of you still like Little Bob story and do remember them again. Please tell!
I bought their " Off the rails" Album in the late 70s because a) it was released on Chiswick Rec. and b) because the chiswick lps were a bit cheaper than other ones (recordshop in Bremen/Germany). I liked it a lot and i was ca. 13 or 14 years young Its still a great Album after all these years!
They were good. I reckon if you saw them live you were satisfied. But like a lot of Europeans, they didn't know how to write lines in English that rhymed. It's a bit strange, because with that kind of music, you expect them to. Was it so hard? Most English-speaking bands manage pull off rhymes, even if they don't always make much sense, it's just natural. Here's an example They do manage to get one in on the last verse.
I picked up on them after hearing their cover of Small Faces' "All Or Nothing" on a UK sampler: Various - New Wave The B-side to that track, "Hot And Sweaty", is killer: https://www.discogs.com/release/2934296-Little-Bob-Story-All-Or-Nothing I still dig "High Time" and "Off The Rails". Great band.
The most remarkable song from the band is the longest song they ever made. From the lp "Off the rails". Riot in Toulouse 5mins45 seconds.
For a second there I thought we were going to talk about these guys, Lil Bob & the Lollipops. Have we done a thread on confusingly similar band and artist names? Both Little Bob and Lil Bob are worthy artists, to be sure.
This Springsteen cover is fantastic. Taped it off the air from a Berkeley punk show in the late ‘70s and later tracked down a copy of the 7” single.
This is from their 3rd album " Come and See me" from 1978. I bought this 25 years ago in a second Hand store. I think it was never pressed on CD.
