Even some of the minor KC albums like Islands charted very well there. He toured Italy with Sylvian and Gunn when their show was hardly holding together without a drummer and without a setlist that people would recognise and still got away with it successfully. He is often going to Italy (and obviously getting money) to run his guitar craft workshops. Etc, etc.
Still you only need to read his diary to find out how patronising his attitude is when he talks about the concerts in Italy. It's like Bongo Bongo land for him (the British members here will probably understand the reference to recent events with one of their political parties) where people are unable to live up to his standards. Or when a KC show in Rome is cancelled in 1982 (I was there) his interpretation is that the promoters were scammers, the organisation managed by mentally retarded guys, and so on.

Another example could be how he managed to alienate 4/5 of the original KC members in a matter of months and then moan about the fact that half of the McDonald/Giles album should have been on In The Wake Of Poseidon.

I could go on and on....

So I don't mind if you don't see things this way but for me the guy is both a formidable musician and an ungrateful idiot.
