There was some talk on the Graham Parker list last year when he was recording his tracks for this CD, but this is the first time I've seen the track listing:

    1. Come and Get It, Graham Parker (recorded by Badfinger)
    2. I'll Keep You Satisfied, Bill Janovitz (Billy J. Kramer)
    3. Bad to Me, Graham Parker (Billy J. Kramer)
    4. From a Window, Graham Parker (Billy J. Kramer)
    5. I'm in Love, Kate Pierson (the Fourmost)
    6. I'll Be on My Way, Johnny Society (Billy J. Kramer)
    7. It's for You, Bill Janovitz (Cilla Black)
    8. Love of the Loved, Kate Pierson (Cilla Black)
    9. Step Inside Love, Kate Pierson (Cilla Black)
    10. Hello Little Girl, Bill Janovitz (the Fourmost)
    11. Goodbye, Bill Janovitz (Mary Hopkin)
    12. One and One Is Two, Graham Parker (the Strangers)
    13. A World Without Love, Bill Janovitz (Peter and Gordon)
    14. Woman, Bill Janovitz (Peter and Gordon)

Anyone have the "original artist" album on British EMI? It came out in the late 1970's I guess. Called "The Songs Lennon & McCartney Gave Away".

Some neat songs on there, first time I ever heard the Fourmost, etc.

I have it & absolutely LOVE it. I believe it came out in 1978, & had a full 20 tracks, with excellent dry EMI sound (if a little low on the volume due to the length). The US version omitted like half of the album & sounded like crap. Where is a CD of this?

I have that LP as well and would love to see in on cd.

With all the re-issues EMI has done in the UK you'd THINK it would be a no-brainer and a money maker.

I believe that LP contained the first issue of Woman by Peter & Gordon in true stereo. At least my Japanese pressing of the LP has it in stereo.

Eh? There was a US version of "The Songs Lennon & McCartney Gave Away"? I've never heard of such a thing.

There is a terrific "unauthorized" eight-disc set of Beatles giveaways (including the solo years, Harrison giveaways, and even a couple of Ringo giveaways)

I do not remember ever seeing a US pressing of "The Songs Lennon & McCartney Gave Away". There was a UK pressing on EMI catalog #NUT-18 and a Japanese pressing EMI # EMS-81217. Both pressing were a bit low in volume but they sounded fine. I have both pressings but prefer to listed to the Japanese pressing...a bit cleaner. "Woman" was not available in stereo on this release. This should be released on CD by EMI. I think the problem is there are a few Pye and Decca recordings as well as Apple (Ringo's "I'm The Greatest") ..the rest are EMI recordings..I'm sure they could redo the track listing to release it on CD if the could'nt license all the tracks.......I did my own collection......could'nt wait for them....

The Songs Lennon & McCartney Gave Away.

I use to see that record all the time at one of my local record stores. Finally I thought I should get it. So I go down there and of coarse it's gone. Saw it once after that at a record show and the dealer wanted way too much for it, so I passed on it. One more record to look for.

I have the Nut 18 U.K. version. Woman is in duophonic, while Nobody I
Know is mono. The 2 other P & G tracks are the usual vocals left versions.
The only true stereo version of Woman I've ever heard is on a 2001 C.D.
called "The Ultimate Peter & Gordon". All four tracks appear to be re-mixes with vocals centered. The notes say the C.D masters were done in 1991 from the 2 track stereo mixdown tapes and 3 track master session tapes. The C.D. says it's the first true stereo release of Woman. Don't know if
that means U.S. or worldwide. Regardless, "gave away" is a wonderful collection.

I could have sworn that I used to see a US SN version out there, but maybe I am hallucinating here.
