If only her discography were more complete. Where's the Songs and Stories from Moby Dick album, for example?

Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis & Tool. Everything is awesome and I could go the rest of my life listening only to these artists.

Well, if you have "Manhattan Research," you don't need "Rock 'n' Roll Symphony." Trust me.

I forgot to add Tim Buckley and Nick Drake, both of which I’ve had since the 80’s.

    No arrogance whatsoever.

I also love how he doesn’t blow with all winds and how he gives very reasonable explanations for that.

Love to watch his clips

The big band Coltrane stuff prior to his Prestige era is really non-essential imo. Otherwise, yes!

Patty Griffin doesn’t have the ups and downs of some of my other favorite singer/songwriters, so she’s my one certain nominee. Fairly sure my collection is complete. I wouldn’t mind filling in any omissions in my Bonnie Raitt collection. Don’t know if there are any. Same with Emmylou Harris.

Sort of an open question "worth owning". Maybe more than 50% of the artists/bands I like, I'm in for it all.

If I look around at what I have here at work now, and then a few from memory:

    The Who
    Black Sabbath
    Led Zeppelin
    Yes
    Genesis
    King Crimson
    The Police
    Deep Purple
    Rainbow
    Motorhead
    Talk Talk
    Steely Dan
    Pink Floyd
    The Doors
    Yo La Tengo
    The Cure
    Cat Power
    Wolf Alice
    Dino Jr
    The Chameleons
    Joy Division
    The Smiths
    Sonic Youth
    Nirvana
    Pearl Jam
    Robin Trower
    UFO
    Fugazi
    Robert Rich
    Jimi Hendrix
    Heart
    Humble Pie
    Beatles
    Blind Faith
    Cream
    Oded Tzur
    Frank Zappa
    ZZ Top
    Rush
    Queen
    The Cars
    Van Halen
    Radiohead
    Jeff Buckley
    Neil Young

Meh, lots more ... I'm bored now. :D

There's a bunch more where I didn't get the later stuff, if they changed styles, band members, etc. Styx, Journey, Stones, REM, etc.

Ligeti absolutely. I have all those collections on Wergo, DG, Sony (Ligeti Project) and various others on CD. But can anyone recommend any standouts on vinyl, particularly any that were never issued on CD? Of course, 2001: A Space Odyssey was the gateway drug for Ligeti. The Seattle Symphony had a series of concerts playing movie scores live, as the movie played above the stage. 2001 was quite something.

Zappa is a terrible habit too. Almost there...

My other completist-ish obsessions include The Future Sound Of London, Brian Eno, all those Miles metal box sets, and Robert Fripp (incl. KC, partnerships with Sylvian, Eno, etc.)

(Just saw your post now, by the way.)

See, I enjoy Rock 'n' Roll Symphony. It has little to do with rock & roll (although it's amusing to wonder if it did in some folks' minds involved with the project), little to do with symphonies (ditto), and little to do with Raymond Scott's more infamous music, but as an easy listening/pops orchestra album of jazz and pre-rock era pop standards, it's quite good in my opinion. And it does have slight touches of Scott's more characteristic work--"What Is This Thing Called Love" is a good example.
