Lots of the greats are already listed, but I'd toss in Clerks 2 and The House Bunny.

Beverly Hills Cop. The first movie I saw in a theater that I remember laughing at the whole time.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I was too young to see it in the theater but this was the first VHS tape I rented that I couldn't stop laughing at.

Superbad. I think this the most recent movie that I found really really funny. I can't think of any others anyway.

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie. This is the only movie that made me laugh so hard that I was afraid I might pass out in the theater. When they started putting the interocitor together I was having trouble breathing. I'm still constantly tempted to sign my name "Wilt Chamberlain".

I saw this as a teen in 1982 or 1983 and loved it.

I didn't watch it for decades but checked out the new Blu-ray recently.

Not a bad movie, but not one that did much for me now. :sigh:

Before both Gregory's Girl and Local Hero and really quite parochial, however, still makes me smile.

And young Shannen Doherty in there as well!

Like I said, "Night Shift" isn't a bad movie, and Keaton does a lot to carry it.

It just seems kinda... meh to me now. I thought it was hilarious in the 80s!

Also this movie Keaton claims to takes credit for bringing the term "jagoff" to the big screen ...it's in the Oxford English Dictionary ...just some useful information to have on hand:righton:

My friends and I were some of the few who knew Keaton pre-"Night Shift", as we liked his shortlived series "Working Stiffs" a year or 2 prior.

Watching "NS" now, you can tell that Keaton had "it". He plays a part that's very much of its era - Bill feels like someone tossed the stereotypical Belushi and Murray characters into a blender and mushed them together - but Keaton still makes it work.

Bill easily could - should! - become annoying and overbearing, and in someone else's hands, he would.

Imagine Keaton's "Working Stiffs" co-star Jim Belushi in the role and it'd have been a disaster.

But Keaton makes Bill funny and charming despite his overtly annoying personality.

Keaton pulls off the role's brief dramatic scene shockingly well, too.

Shelley Long feels horribly miscast as the street hooker, and Henry Winkler seems so desperate to shed the Fonz that he underplays his role severely.

Again, "NS" is watchable enough - it's just not very entertaining to me anymore! :sigh:

That's a really good summation of the three leads. Long was just....not good in much of anything. Winkler was in a string of films around that time that appeared to be chosen for the exact purpose of exorcizing The Fonz; whether it was this, Heroes, or The One and Only.

Keaton absolutely carried the film, and I absolutely die laughing at the end when he flings himself off the balcony while wearing a caveman outfit.
