He’s doing a number of small gigs in support of the new album, they went on sale today.

I’ve got tickets to Rough Trade East and Pryzm (Banquet).

The album is great and I bought a ticket for his Berlin show in March. Last time I saw him was Valentine’s Day 2015 for „Matador“ and it was fantastic!

I’ve been revising “Matador” and “The World’s Strongest Man” and am a bit perplexed that Coombes isn’t getting more attention.

The new album is really, really good. His writing is as strong as ever. In a form like that he’s a perfect substitute in absence of the mothership. Artistically he doesn’t need them. Still it definitely would help him to reach more people. Kudos for not doing the obvious! :righton:

'World's Strongest Man' was a great record, and a great indicator as to where Gaz was heading in his solo career.

I thought it was a much stronger effort than 'Matador' ,although I know that others do not agree.

The new record is a monster. Beautiful songs ,beautifully played. Slightly more organic than 'WSM' to my ears.Fair play to Gaz ,a Top10 record in the UK aswell.

Cream vinyl of „Turn The Car Around“ arrived. It’s a nice heavy package with gatefold and - at least from Norman Records - a signed cover slik. Haven’t had time to play it yet.

On a positive note: Apparently it’s possible to pay VAT directly at the door now. Saving annoying trips to the local post office. Still Brexit…..

I caught Gaz at Rough trade east last week but unfortunately couldn’t make his show in Kingston even though it’s just a short bus ride from me.

I have the album and yes it’s another killer solo album. Top songs and interesting/exciting musical arrangements. I really do not think he has been involved in anything near a bad album since n his whole career. How many people who have been around almost 30 years can you say that about? He really should be an arena selling artist, but then I’d moan I couldn’t see him playing better venues!

What a brilliant new album, his best solo album for me.

Yeah, I fully agree, it’s a bloody brilliant album that gets better with every listen.

Gaz is for me one of the best British songwriters of last 30 years (so underrated) and those new songs prove the claim: they are complex and not obvious yet catchy as hell.
It’s a well produced album as well.

All this make me wanna to listen to the album again and again.

    Great job, Gaz!

Gaz deserves all the accolades for sure. I just finished listening to the cd for the second time. He's still writing brilliantly, the performances are great, there's a ton of stuff craftily put together. I just wish I could get past the completely typical one dimensional modern sound of the recording. I will try it in the boom box and then most likely never play it again because it just is totally unengaging soundwise. Shame. My loss.

Absolutely terrific Berlin show last night! The man currently is on top of his game and his four guys, three women support band is stellar. If you have the opportunity go! But try to check out „Matador“, „World’s Strongest Man“ and „Turn The Car Around“ first. It’s essential to fully appreciate the musicianship of that band.

Turn The Car Around is my favourite album of the year so far. I know it's only March, but I have heard about 50 albums. Not sure if I can make it to his Newcastle show next month but I would definitely like to go.

If you can manage don’t hesitate, except for the opener the new album gets played in full!
