Geddy Lee on Paul McCartney

It was a joke. Sorry. His singing voice is grating on my ears.

 

Geddy turned 16 right before Abbey Road came out. We're assuming a) he'd listened to every prior Beatles/Who/whatever song with the same focus and attention that he did around that age, and b) he had regular access to every Beatles song in his early teens, both highly unlikely.

Geddy's using Macca as an example of early pop bass playing that caught his ear ? That's about it isn't it ? I don't think you can swing this much further.
