Really annoyed that the 2019 Remix and 1974 LP Mix are only available on Blu Ray. WTF? At least give me a thumbdrive of HD files or a download or an SACD or something more portable that I don’t need more than a computer with an optical drive to listen to. That said, I can’t possibly NOT buy this, even with the stupid format and price point. ☹️

You can find the original LP on Discogs for $10. Come on people, get real.

I'm puzzled as to what the "1974 vinyl master" is supposed to be (ie, how does it differ from the original mix of the album)? Is it simply the production master of the original mix, EQ'ed for vinyl? That would be an odd thing to present on an HD disc, but I guess they are going for the "everything including the kitchen sink" approach here.

  9. As I recall they are listed as hybrids so yes.

  10. Sure they are. AP, MOFI produce them. You can also still get the players. They are out there.

Did you get it from 4AD? I started the process but shipping is $50 US.

Thinking of waiting to see if Amazon.ca gets it.

This is one of those sets that will hold it's value once it's out of print
I guess, but I still can't help feeling that if you don't get the super deluxe the other options are shafting you ..... just a little.

Me too, only really want all the remix sessions. This is not my favourite Gene Clark album, I appreciate it and I think the lyrics are total genius, but I find it a hard listen. Wish Roadmaster would get this treatment.

No, they won’t. They’ll think that the price was too high for them in the first place and that’s the way it goes.

The vinyl is selling for $17.95 separately so it wouldn't discount the box set that much anyway if there was one available without it. And the 12"x12' deluxe box makes for a much cooler coffee table "book" and conversation piece.

    :tiphat:

As far as playing a SACD on a regular player...they still sound better.

There is a CD layer on all discs, so yes.

Yes having a 2019 remix only available on a blu ray is a baffling decision.

No they don't. The CD layer is same as a regular CD.

OK....sorry. Hopefully the remastering will be enough to make it worth it. I have a few Steve Hoffman SACD remastered discs and even thought I can't play them as a SACD, it must be the excellent remastering by the master that makes all the difference to my ears!

I think I'll just get the two CDs boxed in a CD size hardbound "book", and the vinyl separately. That'll just set me back around $36, and I will be happy. The video is only in Blu-Ray? Really? Now that is annoying.

Can they be played through a DVD player run through my stereo system?

Blu-ray discs can’t be played on a DVD player, they only work on Blu-ray players.

Unfortunately I don’t own a Blu-Ray player outside of a PS4 - and I have no idea how to hook that up to my stereo system. Seriously trying to figure out how to get the disc to playback in HD through an analog/digital output in the PS4 so I can record it with my computer. It’s too bad that there is no easy way to rip SACD or Blu-Ray audio to HD digital files. SACD and Blu-Ray are such outdated and non-portable physical formats for listening to HD audio.
