Mods - if there is any issue with the content in this, please delete and I'll upload a no video copy. I had to remove about 1 minute of music from the film due to the scene being way too difficult to censor, get it yourself if you're curious... the major parts are here. Tony and Mike soundtrack cuts. SHOUT.mp4
Chronologically, I voted The Musical Box Supper's Ready The Cinema Show Duke's Travels Mama Three usual suspects and two highlights of the Trio which would be what I'd give a newb to show what genesis are about (to me). But as with every Genesis's ranking this means leaving out so much brilliant stuff that it borderlines pointlessness. I deliberately ignored the pop side*, which is partial of course, and I skipped Firth of Fifth because for some reason I feel it a little too obvious a choice. *I wonder how many of the pop fans will show up and vote. I got a feeling this kind of polls attract more of the Pete's Era fans, especially theones wanting to rove that everything post 78 is ****e.
I will say I didn't vote for anything post 1978 Stagnation The Musical Box Supper's Ready Dancing With the Moonlit Knight The Cinema Show The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway Carpet Crawlers Entangled One For The Vine Follow You Follow Me The weird thing is, The Lamb ranks pretty low, and I think a part of my final vote comes from the wealth of good material on each record - it's just that there's so much before the 80s, and it doesn't help. That and, live versions like In The Cage which are some of my favorites... there's too many.
Voted for The Fountain of Salmacis The Musical Box Supper's Ready Can Utility & The Coastliners Dancing w Moonlit Knight Firth of Fifth Carpet Crawlers Ripples Home By The Sea Mama
The knive The musical box Can-utility and the coastliners Supper's ready Dancing with the moonlit knight Carpet Crawlers
I voted for (chronological order): White Mountain Stagnation The Musical Box Supper's Ready Back In N.Y.C. The Chamber Of 32 Doors Ripples Down And Out Heathaze You Might Recall It was tough leaving off Firth Of Fifth, The Cinema Show, and Entangled, but a line had to be drawn.
Thanks for this interesting thread. It's been fun and has renewed my interest and appreciation for this great band!
I believe with the poll I went Looking for Someone Stagnation The Musical Box The Fountain of Salmacis Supper’s Ready Dancing with the Moonlit Knight Firth of Fifth The Cinema Show The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway Behind the Lines And even then I really can’t agree. Ten songs is a lot to limit myself to.
Okay, I went for: All in a Mouse's Night (tough ****) Blood on the Rooftops Cinema Show Firth of Fifth Mad Man Moon One for the Vine Scenes from a Night's Dream The Lady Lies The Lamia You Might Recall Thats's my story and I'm sticking to it.
