Afterglow Blood on the Rooftops Carpet Crawlers Firth of Fifth Los Endos Mama Supper's Ready The Cinema Show The Musical Box Turn It On Again A faultless selection, I'm sure you'll agree
I included many post-Trick tunes -- Abacab, Dodo/Lurker, Home By The Sea, some Duke stuff but no, I don't think any of my votes will prevail
Been a while since I've been involved with this thread. So … since it's approaching the end - I've got to express my admiration and THANKS to Mark Winstanley for his extremely fair and generous direction of this ship. You are a class act, Mark. Special kudos to Rose River Bear for his expert compositional / chordal breakdowns. Man, I appreciate it immensely. And to everybody who contributed, thanks and PEACE!
Understood, but I thought "Time Table" was trite pop when I heard it long before Genesis' big chart success. As a fellow prop fan, I'd suggest giving later tracks "Fading Lights" or "Home by the Sea" a try.
Cheers mate The Jury is out on that Class Act thing lol I'm just glad everybody enjoyed it. It served its purpose for me, and created a closeness to some stuff that wasn't there prior
Nope, the verdict is in - class act for sure. great thread, got me to go back through the whole catalog, gems and stinkers all ...
It's basically all the Banks solo albums (minus the semi-classical stuff), remixed, plus a DVD of promo videos. Does this render "A Chord Too Far" redundant? Albums A Curious Feeling The Wicked Lady The Fugitive Soundtracks Bankstatement Still Strictly Inc DVD 1. For A While 2. The Waters Of Lethe 3. This Is Love 4. Shortcut To Somewhere 5. Throwback 6. I Wanna Change The Score 7. The Gift 8. Only Seventeen
Interesting. I would have thought most folks would already have Tony's solo stuff if they were wanting it. Is the dvd the lure? Are there bonus tracks or extras or something? I'm certainly not saying it is a bad thing, it just seems an unusual release.
No, because nobody is obliged to buy either. I guess the remaster is "the lure". Plus The Wicked Lady wasn't available on CD. . IIRC. As for tha DVD, I'd be surprised of It contained anything remotely interesting. I certainly can live without Tony's videoclips.
I'm not sure. I only just bought the first one with the 5.1 mix about the time we looked at it on the thread.
Not so. The Wicked Lady actually got a (very) limited release on (I presume) Tony's own Fugitive label (see what he did there?). The catalogue number was TB001 (and there?)
Thanks, Mark, for starting this thread. I didn't participate nearly as much as I wanted to, but it was great to read everyone's thoughts on all the albums. Genesis are STILL my favorite band, after 33 years.
The Tony Banks catalogue has been (and it seems will continue to be) murdered by Nic Davis so I'm out. Thank God I bought the discs when they first came out, plus I kept the vinyl.
Very limited. I've actually never seen one online (not to speak on person). Even Google didn't know anything about it, when I asked years ago (So let's agree that it's practically not available on CD)
If not, I don't think they'd command high prices on the used market. I got Strictly Inc. years ago for practically nothing.
It's Davis and Miles Showell. Emphasis on "and". He's not a mastering engineer. I guess he's more the remaster's producer. And I think he did a good job with A Curious Feeling remix, actually. Never heard the rest though.
I bought it from his website as soon as it was put on for sale, i has no idea the supplies lasted only for a short time. Anyway, the artwork was not the original one and the tracking list was reordered. Always good to have it on cd nonetheless!
Here it is Tony Banks - The Wicked Lady (Music From The Film) It's from 2013. Definitely years after the last time I got a Banks phase, TBH. But it got a Russian fake. Can it be considered a badge of honor?
