    Concorde

2014 special vinyl LP pressing reissue series title commemorating the 65th anniversary of Prestige Records and the 90th birthday of legendary recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder.
The very first long-playing record ever recorded by the Modern Jazz Quartet, Concorde (1955) provides a vehicle for stunningly refined playing by legendary vibraphonist Milt Jackson, pianist John Lewis, bassist Percy Heath, and drummer Connie Kay in his maiden voyage behind the kit with the MJQ. The centerpiece of the session is undoubtedly the 'Gershwin Medley,' which features interpretations of 'Soon,' 'For You, For Me, Forevermore,' 'Love Walked In' and 'Our Love Is Here To Stay' that are nothing short of definitive. This landmark album, recorded by the inimitable Rudy Van Gelder, captures the cool, thoughtful sound of the Modern Jazz Quartet at their best and is an absolute MUST-HAVE on vinyl for all manner of jazz listeners.

This is an absolutely cracking album, it really is.

    1980?? Unbelievable.

Decent pressing as well. Sounds good.

Also, if its not mono, it's the narrowest stereo I've heard.

well produced electonic music - downtempo - chill -

    from BoomKat
Second Bonobo album if my memory serves me right but first for Ninja....Bonobo knows what to leave in and what to strip away for his journeys into downtempo tracks and uptempo delights.
Includes the flutetastic prior single 'Pick Up' alongside eight other tracks all worthy of your attention. Gorgeous, soulful, uplifting stuff.

Five-piece alt-jazz pioneers Butcher Brown have found time to record a direct-to-disc album at Gearbox Studios; this on top of members like keys player/producer DJ Harrison releasing an album on Stones Throw and drummer Corey Fonville touring with Christian Scott. Recorded at Mark Ronson's Zelig Studios and cut live to disc using Gearbox's legendary all-analogue signal chain.

Featured in Michael Fremer's Heavy Rotation in the October 2005 Issue of Stereophile!

The jazz experience just doesn't get any better than this! I nominated Newport Rebels... because of Roy Eldridge's ballsy, all-out trumpet playing on "Mysterious Blues" and "Me and You." Eldridge approached the horn as if neither he nor it had limits---his electrifying, perfectly paced solos prove him right. Neither do the other musicians disappoint. The result is jazz tastefully stretched beyond traditional roots. And the late-1960s, direct-to-two-track recording guarantees a natural sound with few production artifacts.

A Sublime Blues LP - Sound 88% Ken Kessler HIFI News

The re-mastered vinyl captures the fluid tonality of Louisiana Red’s unique voice. All of the grittiness is present, but with very limited distortion, especially on electric guitar. The rhythm section is mixed well and provides a bottom anchor to the recording. The Lowdown Back Porch Blues should be part of any blues collection. - Audiophileudition
