Short but sweet 1981 interview with Brent.

"DG: Do Deadheads drive you up the wall?

BM: Half of them don’t know who I am! Usually if they want to talk to me they want tickets, or something. I’ve been kind of leery about that whole scene. They don’t really bother me. They’ll ask me where Jerry is, if they know who I am – but half the time they don’t know who I am. “Do you work for the band?” I think half the people out there still think that Keith’s in the band. Seriously!"

I knew who you were Brent!

Interesting that he learned "If I Had The World To Give" and "France" for the audition but "didn't need to."

Maybe the boxes will show up only with that show in them too.

It's funny, I could see them screwing it up and only putting in the March 9, 1981 show since that is the one released by itself in addition to being in the box, but not one that is a box exclusive. We pretty much all knew this was not going to go smoothly.

I know, I've fought this battle 3 or 4 times now on different boxes.

Last year or the year before I eventually had them cancel the download preorder and just send be the physical box instead. I get mixed up sometimes but I’m pretty sure I would up getting the box before the actual download issue was resolved.

I know I described the Deadcast as a long form ad, but Jarnow always manages to swing wide and bring in some incredible tangents. I love that the episode ostensibly about MSG '82 has long detours about Deadhead zines and discordianism.

Downloaded the 3.9.81 FLACs from nugs.net. Sounds like it's running just a little fast (approx. 1%)? I first noticed it in Weir's voice while playing the Stranger opener, then confirmed vs. my guitar.

Streaming 3/9/81 from Qobuz and man oh man Jerry's solo on the outro of Uncle John's Band is the stuff dreams are made of.

^ :medal - I am as well (via Nugs) very inspired, the 80’s had some inspired UJB outro jams (9/6/80 always pops into my head as an excellent UJB).
