It might depend on the guest and their "representation". Hopefully none of them were under contract to Matthew Katz or his ilk. But so far in the current series I believe there have been no guests.

Not off the table, but they create issues that aren't always within the budget to resolve.

No guest in the Dicks series....unless you consider Ned Lagin which maybe perhaps played on many ‘74 shows uncredited except during Seatones...I may be going off the rails here.

This seems to be right except for Ned, but there were guests in both Dicks and Road Trips series.

On disc one of Dick's Picks 30, Bo Diddley is the star and the Grateful Dead are the "guests"!

I completely agree on 9-28-72 but I thought it was 4 discs. Or mine is although may have burned before 80 min. CD-Rs existed. Hmm, I should see what's changed (if anything) with that one over the past 18 years.

That's the big one. Hopefully the great man got a nice slice of the pie there.

Out of curiosity I googled "guests on grateful dead recordings" and via reddit I got a link to a pretty comprehensive list of all known guest appearances period.

For your dining and dancing pleasure. :D 558 tracks. It's missing a few but a hell of an effort. Just click on the archive logo on the right and it will take you to the page. Maybe you already knew that, but I just figured it out.

I remember some cuts on that one. I’m like somebody else that posted, I haven’t listened to it in years anticipating an official release of some sort.

One can only hope, for 2/11/70’s sake, that something can be worked out when necessary.

I agree wholeheartedly, as long as it's full retail, not a Dave's Pick. (though I don't see how they could crunch the numbers for that one with the limited release model.) Duane Allman seems to be a pretty big selling point among Allman's fans.

Ya think? A full retail release of 11 February 1970 cuts across several demographics, and could easily sell 100K+ copies in short order. Plenty of shekels to go around.

What I mean is, I've heard/seen comments to the effect of 'I'm automatically in if Duane's on it.'

Would be a perfect holiday release. Might be something for the 50th anniversary in 2020, as much as I wouldn’t want to wait.

It’s my understanding that 2-11-70 is only in bits and pieces in the Vault.

There are more patches than I remembered (and Charlie Miller couldn't even find one for part of The Other One). And it is 4 discs. I hope 2019 is the year they release a 4 disc set Dave's so something big from '72 or '73 can be released. Then do a 2 disc set from '68. Maybe save the bonus disc for a short show or a partial that relates to the 2 disc set.

FWIW, 8/25/72 also has a reel change in "The Other One" but was a DaP.

Pretty sure the whole show came home in the past couple of years. I'm not sure if that was in the ABCD haul or some other cache, but all the reels are back now.

    You and me, both. Throw in 1/8/79, 1/11, 1/15 & 1/17. That’d work.

If Betty didn't record then I wonder what the source is of the SBD's from Charlie Miller circulated awhile back? I agree though, I feel like we would've seen the Master Reels if they existed. Maybe Brent had a houseboat back in '79?

Joking aside, that seems like a logical place as to where they would've gone if recorded.

Listening to the new Dave's Picks, CD1. There are some really good versions like Deal or Brown Eyed Woman, but there are other versions of rather famous songs that sound different, but not necessarily in a good way. Nevertheless an interesting release that shines a light on a period derided by many. Nevertheless, I do not need this twice a year.

Those were cassette SBDs I think.

Probably from the FOH mix, I haven't listened to those in a long time so I don't recall off the top of my head.
