Minor vent incoming. So, I order early bird and a month later the credit card I used to order is stolen. Bank issues me a new credit card. Since Dead.net store doesn't actually charge your card/account until ready to ship, I look up my order and see no way to edit payment method. I call, leave message. I email, get an email back, "Sorry, we can't change payment method. You can cancel the order though and re-order" I write back explaining if I do that I lose early bird pricing. They write back and say to give them new order number and they will apply a credit at some point. So I do all that... great...

Here's my vent... wtf? I know of no other seller of anything anywhere that doesn't allow one to change payment method if item wasn't charged yet. Also, what if the sub had sold out? Then their idea of how to fix this wouldn't work. I fail to understand how a company that has been selling stuff for many years doesn't provide a way for customers to change payment methods. Imagine how many people must have to go through this, as the delay between an order and actually having your card charged can be so long, anything can happen, like it did to me, in the interim.

Your vent is legit, handling these situations can be super easy. So much for customer "service." I'm glad you found resolution.

I really must pay more attention to my credit card I always assume they charged the whole lot up front.

Do they split the payment or just bill at the first disc

Yes, I kind of dread this when using credit cards since I've had to cancel cards in the past. Like, can I just buy it now if I can't change payment later, what if I have to cancel my credit card before this ships? Fortunately doesn't happen all that often but creates some unnecessary anxiety along the way.

 

My card was charged straight away when I did Early bird

 

Kind of like paying for concert tickets 9 months ahead of time.

Double check. Your cards may have given an authorization, but Dead.net does not collect payment until it ships.

As an update, I actually just received a phone call from them to ensure all was good and we had a nice talk. This issue is not due to policy, but to how their software works, which is old. They are planning to update this in the future so we can make updates to payment source, etc. prior to the final charge. They were incredibly nice and was surprised to get the call back, particularly after it getting sorted out via email.

Mine was charged 10/26.

 

I paid via PayPal, with my Amex, and was billed on Oct 24th.

I contacted them about why I was charged taxes as a Canadian customer, and they refunded me for the taxes today.

 

Why do you keep saying this? My order was billed ... and paid for. See above ... I am not alone. Maybe you are?

 

I used to be billed with a “auth/hold” but then officially charged at shipping time(remember that caused a fiasco w E72)but I think it’s been a few years that I’ve been charged right at time of purchase for everything I’ve gotten from them.

 

I said it because it didn't seem logical they would put the charge through for some and not for others. Obviously, they must do that, otherwise I wouldn't of had to go through what I just did and the rep. from Dead.Net wouldn't of confirmed what I've been telling you. Seemed odd he would leave out the part where they do put the charge through immediately for some, but not for all.

i paid using paypal and was charged up front but paypal might be why

 

As a businessman I wouldn't trust PayPal either.
