I'm hoping and praying that Criterion is working to remaster and release this astounding concert film. On the heels of Laurie's Heart Of A Dog and after just releasing the long needed upgrade of David Byrne's True Stories, HOTB would definitely fit in their wheelhouse right now.

I missed the first time Pink Floyd - Delicate Sound Of Thunder came out on LD, but I found a stack of them for sale at Tower Video in about 2000, I bought it immediately. I have my doubts it will ever get released on DVD or Blur-ray, given the time it took for Pulse to come out. DSOT is more like a film, rather than a live concert. I enjoy seeing it because the cinematography and editing were done nicely, plus the backing singers cleaned up nicely for this filming.

David does not like this video and that is why it's never come out on another format.

I would kill for that Knack concert in better quality. It's still an amazing show in any case, and was a big f-u to all the haters who criticized their "derivative" sound. That was a crack band right there.

And that Tears For Fears show? All I can say is Oleta Adams was an amazing addition to the band, and totally took that concert to the next level.

These are available in absolutely crappy quality on YouTube, and as bad as they look I still check them out periodically.

Yes, Daryl's voice in this gig is out of this world.
I do prefer the "Liberty Island's Concert" setting a whole lot better though, what with being open air, in that location, and also because it starts when there's still light and then it goes on into the evening. And they arrive in a helicopter, how cool is that :D
Let's just say both of these gigs show H&O at their absolute best. It's unbelievable they're not available in a common format. I wonder what could the reasons be for that.

I recently watch a Japanese import of Dead or Alive's Rip it Up on LD. Their music is a bit too repetitive, but visually it's an interesting show. The band, complete with two male strippers on guitar, mimes along with the "Rip it Up" dance mix CD.

  13. I still have my cassettes made from the original FM simulcast (on CHEZ-FM). Daltrey's vocals are VERY low for some reason and as (imo) Entwhistle's bass sounded like a wall of indecipherable noise in those days, it's like listening to Pete perform a solo electric guitar concert with a drummer. I like it.

Seems utterly mad to me that Tin Machine's 'Oy Vey, Baby-Live At The Pier' still hasn't made it out on a small, easy to hold disc.

Dolly Parton Live in London. Supposedly recorded in Quad but I can only decode in Pro-Logic.

Fleetwood Mac: Documentary and Live Concert. I'm not sure if this early LD ever made it to DVD. Worthwhile, but my copy is full of snow.

I liked Tin Machine. I could see some kind of box set collecting the three albums and video together.

I liked TM, too - I own the LD in question.

My comment was partly in jest! :)
