Bryan Ferry / Roxy Music - Street Life - 20 Great Hits

Virginia Plain and Pyjamarama fit better in this context than trying to configure them as part of the first two albums.
The early Bryan Ferry solo tracks are more listenable in this context than they are on the original albums.
The tracks from Manifesto and Flesh In Blood work better on a singles collection than on the inconsistent albums they are from (IMO), and if you listen to Manifesto with the original versions of Angel Eyes and Dance Away on it, this is a good place to have the single versions of them.
    The mastering is great.

Sure it leaves off a few tracks (All I Want Is You being the most obvious) but despite attempts to usurp it, it is still in print and sells well.

The Carly Simon best of album is play quite often on road trips. It is a good compromise for the wife (she is not so hot on some of my preferred tunes).

I have a lot of best of albums I bought and listen to just because I did not know which regular album(s) of the artist to get.
Van Morrison, The Band, CCR, Aerosmith, Santana, The Offspring (I have since bought all their albums). Pretty much all of J Geils best of and live albums. J Geils is one of my favs but only recently did I buy Nightmares which is the first regular album I have.

Most if not all of the music I have from the 50's is 'best of'. Ditto most blues albums.

What I did for The Byrds "Greatest Hits" is to use the mono mixes of those tracks...taken from my needle drop of the Sundazed 2 LP set "The Columbia Singles '65-'67".

These are both VERY sentimental choices.

Some would quibble about this first one, since it has live versions of the 2 most well-known songs, but it made me want to check out the rest of their catalog:

This next one, however...is basically perfect and it started a lifelong love affair with her voice and music:
