Hmm, now maybe I understand what the name The CUTTING Crew meant.

Rarely have I been so curious but so reluctant to Google a phrase....

A ground breaking, and fearless, band nonetheless.

After the Sunday Mirror got wind of them. In hindsight, they probably realised it was a stupid idea. It's not like they were ever going to get on TOTP.

A kind of similar name was Crispy Ambulance, but I found that quite catchy.

Not very PC but quite a catchy little ditty nevertheless.

Finnish rock band "And The Lefthanded".

They used to be Larry And The Lefthanded. The guitarist Larry Guitar left in '99, so what to do?

I see you gave a pass to the penile name from your avatar. It is ironic how our bias' are formed.

The first one I wouldn't consider that gross. Out of taste at best.

That second one is simply commercial suicide, though.

I can see the aversion to these names, but my god you are denying yourself some first class music by avoiding these bands.

I probably wouldn't have listened to Suicide or Dead Kennedys due to their "shocking" names either, but I would have missed out.

  16. If you can explain how it involves poop or swearing (or puke, for that matter), I'm all eyes.

I'll also note that I give the Butthole Surfers a pass, but I got into them fairly young. It's not a 100% hard and fast rule, in any event.

It was the juvenille criteria that you mentioned that I was commenting on. Meaning its ironic to avoid a band with a poop reference in their name but not one with a dick reference. I'm just saying we all have odd reasons for why we don't like what we don't like.

In the summer of 1992 Chris Ballew was broke and living for free in my apartment in Boston. We’d been friends for a couple years. I turned him on to a record by some college friends of mine called The Presidents of the United States. He liked it. A year later he moves back to Seattle and puts together The Presidents of the United States OF AMERICA. I prefer the acronym.

Oh, that's OK because Misspelled Vegetables did a classic Peel Session and I wasn't going to stand for that...
