I listened to that song 4 times in a row and am now going back through his solo aalbums right now.

    :D :wiggle:

EMPEROR's IHSAHN To Release Seventh Solo Album, 'Ámr', In May

and with a blistering guest solo from OPETH's Fredrik Åkesson on "Arcana Imperii",

Hah! I thought the solo had a Fredrik quality to it. I guess this explains it. :)

Opening in Las Vegas for KISS and Celine Dion? :hide:

Geez, your ears are finely tuned! Much more than mine are.

Re Ihsahn, coincidentally I'm listening to a musically clever band. Interregnum, by Usurpress I was intrigued by their statement:

"This time we wanted to challenge the establish dogmas and indeed our own predetermined ideas of what makes death metal sound like death metal. We have taken notes from the history of heavy guitar driven music before the times of death metal, in fact; before the times of heavy metal. We have taken inspiration from the hard rock and prog rock movements of the early seventies and put a heavy death twist on it. For those who feel like retching at the sound of this; we can assure you that this is by all means a death metal album and not some silly retro 70-ties throwback 5 years too late for the trend. It’s simply Usurpress but slower, heavier and way more complex.”

I've got 3 of Dimmu on cd, and I hardly listen to them anymore, I can't seem to stomach all the orchestration that they use. I've tried and tried to like it, but it just isn't my thing. I do like Cradle of Filth which uses some of that, but it's not as up in the mix maybe? I dunno.

Just placed an order for some FDR vinyl:

    The IVth Crusade
    ... For Victory
    Altars Of Madness
    Blessed Are The Sick

Nice! How is that turntable working out? Among the things I miss about vinyl is the big covers and pictures.
I ended up buying that Ov Shadows album. The damn thing followed me around for a few days like a stray dog, begging to be petted and taken home. I gave in to it.

wow that was pretty bad....throw Rammstein/Nightwish/Trans-Siberian Orch/power metal cheese and some bad late 80's hammer on guitar solo into a Pro-Tools blender and voila, there's nothing remotely black metal about this at all

I recalled about five of their songs that I used to like and played them this morning. They were fine songs a decade or so ago but haven't aged well.

I was listening to this compilation Behemoth Amen December 29th, 2017
    1. Ludzie Wschodu (Siekiera cover) 04:14
    2. Chant for Ezkaton 2000 E.V. (2008 version)
    3. Qadosh
    4. Furor Divinus (Live)
    5. Messe Noir (Live)
    6. Amen (Live)
The result of which had me looking for the best footage of my fav Behemoth guitar solo.

It's sounding good. I'm enjoying researching which pressings to buy. I haven't bought too much yet since I'm so cheap. So far, those FDR ones are the first extreme metal I've purchased on vinyl, and I only got those because I had a 25% off coupon. :D Oh, I also got that Power Trip from last year, amazon had it for $7.75 new. Looking fwd to hearing that one.

I've been listening to the three albums by this Italian Black Metal band. A real mixed bag within the albums themselves. Actually, within songs, as there are strengths and weaknesses and it's never long before one side steps forward. I'd say it's 60/40 but still I found them interesting to listen to.

Album three. Quite the poetic ending.

Movies: I haven't marked the calendar but it seems I do an annual viewing of the Dollars Trilogy. By the time I'm half way into The Good, the Bad and the Ugly I'm convinced it is the greatest movie ever made. Although the category doesn't exist you want to posthumously give Eli Wallach a Nobel Prize for entertainment. Blondie, ever the Metalhead, digs it.

There are so many bad horror movies out there that I must say I saw one that was not bad at all and it was a creature feature! Produced by Netflix, more dudes in the woods but a definite cut above the rest especially for acting.

And it's always nice to get something other than bills in the mail.

Doesn't this take place in the Scandinavian forest? That would make it the kvltest movie ever! I want to see it.

I was listening to the below while on the treadmill the other day. I was hamster wheeling along to the what sounds like the apocalypse when outta nowhere comes a sax solo.....?! I almost fell off. Later I was looking at the cover art and I noticed the little hooded figure in the lower right hand corner playing sax.....A HA!!!!! I think I've mentioned them before on here but I don't remember a sax solo.

I don't recall if the forest's location was specified.
That little sax player is awesome! :righton: And the song is brilliant and gorgeous. What a heavy album it is.

WOW!!!! :edthumbs: That is an instant buy! I'm sure it'll look and sound great.

I didn't. Only when looking him up did I spot the familiar cover. Other cool stuff. I haven't looked at this site yet but it seems dedicated to the art of new heavy music. When I have time I'll check it out properly. http://heavymusicartwork.com/
