Version of Shadow if Your Love streaming here that sounds great. I’ve never heard it. https://www.gnr.fm
If there's a super deluxe set, I'm hoping it includes a Blu-ray with whatever remaster they've done, new 5.1 mix and maybe a flat transfer of the original stereo master. What I'm expecting is some trinkets and loads of CDs with a new album remaster at DR4.
I think Axl cares about SQ (witness Chinese Democracy) so I imagine any new remaster of Appetite sounding good. Short answer, no; slightly longer, "One in a Million"
Right. Axl choose the non-compressed version over the compressed one. Let's hope it wasn't a "eeney meeney miney moe" situation. You never now with WAR.
The original CD is all I'll ever need for the main album (amazing sound!), but looking forward to jumping on any extra tracks/concerts/video/new mixes they want to release.
"It’s gonna take two hands to count all the vinyl included." "Early years live shows..." Mitch Lafon on Twitter
That's promising to hear. I previously had my expectations set as low as "remastered edition with bonus t-shirt and bandanna"
Fingers crossed that any re-releases have some sympathetic sound quality to them. Appetite was always "crank it" friendly and I'd hate to imagine a re-release that failed in that department. I'd like to voluntarily damage my own hearing, not have some half-deaf recording engineer do it for me.
Are any of the GNR vinyl albums AAA? I bought appetite for destruction reissue and it sounds digital sourced.
Though I’m hoping there’s a CD-only version offered. Vinyl (especially in the quantity Mitch suggests) can price out all but the most deep-pocketed fans in sets like these.
Maybe they've gone back into the studio and re-recorded Appetite with the current line up!! And then for Christmas we get "Axl sings AC/DC's Greatest Hits" feat Angus Young and some other blokes.....
Quote from Barry D who did the old (excellent) compact disc mastering. At least for Destruction is was all analog- "Yes, it was the original 1/2" analog mixes that I used to master "Appetite...". It was not a flat transfer. The mixes (like many others, if not most) needed some minor EQ touches to sound their best." Best regards, Barry www.soundkeeperrecordings.com www.barrydiamentaudio.com The re-issue, yes more than likely was probably cut from digital files, but unless someone can post a needle drop from it we can't be certain.
Lies should be included with any AfD deluxe set, and severed from the fake live tracks. To my mind it serves as kind of a bookend/coda to Appetite.
Yeah, Ritz '88 would be a worthy addition. However, think I'd prefer the 1987 Marquee Club shows they recorded. The third night in particular is probably my favorite GnR live recording. Would love to have it in better quality.
