Has anyone here heard about so-called "outsider music"?

Could it be Jan Terri? Sometimes I just want to give these people props just for having the nerve (or whatever) to take the chance..

This is one of my favorites. She has written some genuinely catchy tunes.

    Woah.
The video is bad but with a little auto tune, the song would not be that bad.

Albert Ayler playing Summertime, outsider or just outside? Ayler played in the military and with Little Walter so he could play conventionally/competently but chose to leave that behind. He wrote tunes too, some of which are intentionally simple but some really aren't simple at all.

I spent a day with Wesley Willis once. It was... interesting.

Not that I can type the band name here, but does ***** Galore fall into this category, or was it all just a calculated ploy? Love their deconstruction/demolition of the entire Exile on Main Street album, but in small doses.

I was involved in the cassette culture scene during the 80's - a lot of home recorded and self-released experimental music on cassette. I think it could be considered outsider.

Wasn't Esquivel considered outsider music at one point?
