The show is a gut wrenching experience at times. It’s brilliant and Colm Meaney steals just about every scene he’s in.
It's a lot of fun. Basically a western: historical drama around the building of the railroad after the Civil War.
You’ll enjoy it. It’s a well written and produced series with great performances. It’s also got a small measure of historical accuracy as well.
I'm sure there are complaints somewhere. I haven't watched the whole show myself but my dad watched the whole thing and he's a sucker for a western so there were no complaints there what I did watch I liked and it's on my ever-expanding list of "yeah I'd like to watch that one day"
Looked this up to see what’s what and it seems to be a Western after the Civil War that ran on AMC. Never heard of it and we watch a lot of AMC! It can be streamed on the ROKU Channel.
Finished the first episode and it just wreaked in superiority in so many aspects. Total eye candy +. We’re so happy we found this.
Please let us know what you think. From the little we’ve already seen it must have been vastly overlooked or underrated due to the initial reaction here. Can’t quite understand it.
I will, and fear not! NO NEGATIVE comments here will ever stop or influence me from watching a movie or TV show that I am interested in. I make my own decisions. : )
It’s not any negative comments in this case. It just was the lack of recognition. I believe it will only be a few minutes before you realize the gem you’re looking at. I’m putting myself out on a limb cause I’ve only seen the first episode. It’s instilled that much confidence!
Thank you to the OP for posting this originally in the music forum, cos othwise I would never have heard of HoW....... ......so last night me and my better half watched the first 4 episodes and were blown away - we love it !! We both have an interest in trains, and that post- civil war era of the US...... but the script, the acting, the issues dealt with, and the cinematography are all superb... The previous night we watched "The Whale"......and we were both extremely underwhelmed.... YMMV
I’d give Brendan Fraser praise for his performance. As to HOW-great series. Great performances, writing and production values.
We had great fun watching that show, good cast too. It's been a while. Added Bonus: ever watch "The Knick"? Highly recommended.
Thought it was okay. But underwhelming because of its budget and I thought much of the Indian stuff was cliched
