How many here is using gloves while handling their vinyl records?

No, but...I've thought about it. I spend most of my time using a keyboard during the day and inevitably I get oil on my hands that ends up on the jackets/sleeve/labels.

 

I use mine Beatles glove

 

I wear gloves when I swap out tubes, but not when I clean or handle records. But, now that I think about it, I have been in a couple of used record stores where the records were so dirty that gloves could have helped keep my hands clean.

 

...which means the revisions have changed.

 

So that's why Mickey wears gloves...

 

No, I can’t imagine taking things to this extreme to simply enjoy the sound of a record. I can honestly say I’ve never had a single I ssue with a vinyl record due to handling issues.

Then again, I have never cleaned an album in my life either! Not one. Somehow I’m none the worse off.

 

Been playing vinyl for for over 50 years and have never used gloves. Clearly as an adult I've been handling my albums with a lot more care then I did as an 8 year-old

 

The lighting in that collectors record shop is too far too bright, somebody should report it.

 

My collection started November, 1964, so in that 54+ years, no, I have never used gloves. I do wash my hands if I have any doubt to their cleanliness, but that's it.

Never gloves but always a condom.

 

I just sterilize my hands by burning off the top layer of skin with a Bunsen burner. Works like a charm.

 

I tried this and first record I put on slipped
Out of my hands and hit the floor.
So gave up on the idea.
Clean hands better than gloves for me.

 

Wouldn't be procto-cle for me.

 

I use gloves when cleaning my digital library.

I hold up the external hard drive with a gloved hand and blow the dust off the case. Pffft! Clean.

 

Only my boxing gloves.
Actually, I try not to handle my records anymore. I just look at them on my shelf and try to remember what each one sounds like.
If only I could get my hands on some of that EMITEX stuff, all my problems would be solved. Probably.

 

Not at home at all..but many times at the thrift stores,i wish i had some gloves.

 

Are you operating in a clean room environment also? If not, you need to be.

 

I always wear gloves.

I also put a lock-out tag on the album cover to warn others that the LP is in use.
