I heard a Christmas song today in a public place. It’s November 6. The onslaught begins.

I am waiting for the official arrival of the brand new remaster of Jim Reeves iconic Twelve Songs Of Christmas CD on Friday. Yours truly wrote the liner notes for the release and Vic Anesini handled the remastering duties. My Christmas tree is up early this year for the second straight year. Last year it was up early as well for the arrival of John Klein's A Christmas Sound Spectacular twofer CD that I also had a major role in getting remastered and back out to the public. Yeah, I did the liner notes for that one as well. I am darn proud of my role in these iconic Christmas album releases on CD from Real Gone Music. Bring on the Christmas music!

I heard Mariah Carey on the 4th. Made tons of hilarious remarks to the sales assistant but he didn't bite.

Ol' skool...barks recorded separately, select barks copied and sped-up for different notes, spliced together, laid over instrumental background.

Jingle Cats, on the other hand, was sampling and played on a keyboard...real cats of course wouldn't even put up with the ancient technology Don Charles employed, so they stubbornly held-off until the '90s!

It was a jazzy big band version of “Good King Wenceslas”. I think they thought they could sneak it in between a couple of those pop tunes you hear while shopping.

I work retail and they haven't started playing them over the speaker yet though our store is already decked out in Christmas garb and already selling a bunch of Christmas product. I fully expect the Christmas to start being played at the end of the month. This is the 6th Christmas working where I work and it's still the same songs that were being played in 2014 the first Christmas I worked there and I can't say I don't like most of them.

I do like Christmas and I even wrote and recorded a Christmas song on purpose one time, it just cuts into the fun for me when it goes from Halloween to New Years.
