I was looking for a way to improve my TT stand for my new VPI and stumbled apon the superball trick. I went to Toys-R-Us and found some clear superballs in the clearance bin for 58 cents each. I bought three of them. I then purchaced another shelf to use under the TT. I then cut the superballs in half and put them inbetween the new shelf and the old. YIPEE! works great and looks cool too.
    Thanks all!

Is there something special about the clear ones, or is that just for aesthetics?

No, I don't think so. They were the only ones I found!

Were these the real "Whammo!" superballs?

You're using the big superballs rather than the small ones then?

The ones I got were about 1.5 inchs diameter. I don't think they were "whammo" balls.

As an alternative to superballs you can use squash balls cut in half. I read about this tweak some time ago and have been using then under selected pieces of my components ever since. IMHO it's one of the best low cost anti-vibration treaks around!
