    Goldenboy,

Did you try a cheater adapter plug . Three prong to two prong.
They can be bought a Lowes or Home Depot for under $1.00.

Yes I did. Actually, I have to again make a correction to my previous statements. As I initially believed, none of my components use a three prong plug. The only thing on a 3 prong plug is my FAX machine, which I mistook for the plug coming from my TT. After putting the plug from it on a cheater plug, the hum did in fact reduce, but was still present. Now I have actually moved the FAX machine off of the same line as my components, still leaving it on a cheater plug, but the hum is still present if I connect anything attached to the Satellite dish and/or antenna.

    Hi Goldenboy,

Turn all your gear on and Put your ear close up to all the electronics hooked into the line. Also put your ear up close to the clean power or
surge. If your ear is close enough you might be able to detect a hum
from something. If you don't detect a thing from any of your gear or peripherals. Next check the computers in the house, turn them off.

Check your house heater fan and refrigerator compressor too. Try turning
both of them off see if the hum goes away.

Im very curious what your able to find out.

    Happy Holidays!

Well, I did actually listen to the components and heard no hum or buzz or anything such as that. As for the refrigerator and heater, I really don't think it's them as my gear is on a separate line from them and the only time the hum appears is when anything connected to the satellite dish and/or antenna is connected to the A/V receiver. Again, with the dish and antenna disconnected, the hum disappears, so my solution so far is to not connect the audio outs from the sat receiver or the VCR to the A/V receiver. Now the only problem is the DVD player. If I connect it to the TV or VCR, then the hum is back. :(

As an update: I bought and hooked everything to the TrippLite Isobar 6 DBS that Jetsons suggested and though the hum was greatly reduced, it is still present. Perhaps if I now used one of the filters from Radio Shack in addition to the TrippLite it might eliminate the hum completely?

That would be my guess GoldenBoy.;) The $10.00 filter is the thing that did it for me.

    Goldenboy,

Sounds like your on the right track. I might pick one up myself. Thanks for
    the tip guys.

I'd avoid running video through your receiver if at all possible. It has to affect the signal somewhat.

If you can swing it, going direct through will always give you a cleaner signal.

    Happy Holidays!

Gary, it's not really the video I'm worried about, it's the audio signal from the satellite receiver and the VCR that I'm trying to pipe through the A/V receiver. All video signals are going directly to the TV, except in the case of the DVD-A player which is not yet sending any signal to the TV, video nor audio. The problem is now, that if I hook the DVD player to the TV in anyway, it will send a hum through the system as the multichannel outputs from it are connected to the A/V receiver for DVD-A playback.

I suppose for the satellite receiver I could just upgrade it to one of the new models that has a digital out, as the problem doesn't seem, for now anyway, to persist when using the digital inputs on the A/V receiver, but as far as DVD-A is concerned, there's no other way to play back the so called 'Advanced Resolution' content but through the analogue outs.

I have suffered through the same problems on numerous occasions. Give PS Audio's new outlet a try. It has an isolated ground that can often help....
