I’d have to say it was pretty self explanatory and your two examples are pre 1975 but I don’t know for sure.

    A great single.

It’s not even the best Sweet single either.

I would suggest starting with the Fox On The Run single and working your way backwards. Just don't flip the singles over whatever you do...:D

    Brings back some memories !
Kicking off summer vacation of my 13th year, the songs on Desolation Boulevard were pouring out of every window, passing (and parked) car, and poolside radio/tape player. Every kid I hung out with then owned a copy! Funny how those memories last, and a song can bring back an emotion, a feeling, not felt in 45 years ..
.. this one always brings back a really great memory :

Sweet were superb, esp when they broke away and started to write their own material.
    Action is a marvellous single.
Fans of sweet need to check out the UK release(sony 2005) of sweet fanny adams. Its a stunning recording. Crank it up and rock out to one of the best heavy rock albums of the 70s.
I was first hooked on them when i saw them on Top Of the Pops play teenage rampage. Blew me away.
Theres a couple a live gigs knocking around. Live on Geordie Scene and Live at Beat Club. Brilliant stuff. They could actually play as well.

I was born in 1958 so remember fondly the 60s Manfred Mann. On seeing the thread title though I instantly thought of the Sweet song. I have the single still and the album from the same time Desolation Boulevard. Desolation Boulevard - Wikipedia

Interesting how a song title brings up different songs of the same title to different people.

Manfred Manns Earth Band was the first gig i went to. It was on the Watch tour. We were on the top Balcony at Sheffield City Hall. Support band were called Band of Joy. Sat a few rows in front of us was the Mann himself. He was sat alone and im not sure he liked the band of joy. MMEB were excellent that night. I went straight out the next day(after school) and bought Watch. Its still my fave MMEB album.

Thanks. I only ever saw the 60s Manfreds on the tv and we also had some of the records. I saw the Manfred's Earthband (MMEB) a few times and have some of the albums and singles. Great band and good to see them get a second wind as it were in the 70s. Apologies for diverting thread a bit.

MMEB are still on the road. Theres a gig on YT from last year where MM is leaping everywhere. He is 80(ish) and looks amazing. Mick Rogers is still there too.
    MM a true legend.

Strange one. Drums aren't miked (although he's clearly bashing away) and the vocals seem to be doubled with playback. I'd call it almost live.
