Some sellers are really slow at replying and it's especially worse if you bought from a casual seller who sometimes really treat their Discogs store as an after thought and don't think it's a problem to do so. Not sure where you seller stands in terms of professionalism overall but two days is enough time to get back to a buyer with a refund. I once had a seller taking their sweet time. When I messaged them it turned out they went on holiday after the package was delivered and "forgot" to send the refund before leaving. Of course they had very little internet access until I sent a polite but firm message saying I expected a response within 24hrs (they had not replied to my previous messages) or PayPal would be getting involved. Weird how internet access just pops up when you need it to the most. lol Since it's the weekend, I'd send them a message asking them to refund you. If you don't hear back by end of day Monday, you can then pursue a claim via PayPal or tell them you will do so unless they refund you immediately. I'd be polite but firm in your messages.
I don't buy pricey items but every time (except 2) that I have an issue the seller immediately refunds my money in full. So I get a free record and can decide if I want to upgrade if it's artistically worth it. Oh wait, I did deal with a maniac that accused me of intentionally damaging a 30-40 dollar vinyl set. Before I ordered I wrote and received confirmation it was new/sealed as it was a Christmas gift. But he was just plain nuts and an aberration.
I bought what was listed as an original press of a metal cd at a great price. Turned out to be a sealed Russian knock off. I emailed the seller asking for a refund and filed a paypal claim after not hearing back. Sigh. At least it wasnt too expensive so I can wait for the process to play out. Still a pain. I should have asked for pictures
I haven't filed a PP claim in awhile but IIRC, they had an option for items that were counterfeit and sometimes you didn't have to send them back in those cases.
I don't know if the seller deliberately misrepresented what they had, or was careless, but either way, it ain't what you paid for, and it should not cost you. If it is in fact prohibited from sale, I tend to think the seller was trying to pull a fast one and unload something they may not otherwise be able to.
I might be done with ordering LP's from international sellers. I went on a small spree this summer looking for some specific pressings of a handful of LPs - Black Sabbath, Bowie, etc. I put in orders with 8 different EU sellers with a total of 18 LPs over the past month. Here are my results: * 2 orders cancelled because the seller couldn't find the records * 1 order cancelled because the seller tried to change the shipping price from 17 Euro to 56 Euro for a single record * 1 order of 4 LPs cancelled because the seller had still not shipped after 28 days and wasn't responding to multiple messages * 1 order shipped 17 days ago and nowhere in sight with no movement in tracking for 2 weeks - still seems to be overseas somewhere * 1 order received but the seller misgraded the LP. Not a big deal for me usually, but this one had a skip in it! * 1 order received, but the seller didn't list the right pressing. Was close enough and after the rest of the debacles, considered myself lucky to have it at all * 1 order received with the LP properly graded and listed as the right pressing Out of the 18 LP's I ordered, I'm in possession of 7 of them. And 4 of those were from a single seller. I'm not a tough, picky buyer at all. I easily forgive minor misgrading and even mis-ID'ing pressings unless its a very specific pressing I'm looking for. But this has not been exactly a satisfying experience. At least with domestic purchases, shipping is usually reliable and returns are cheap and easy. But I think buying from overseas is over for me.
Thanks yall. Yeah it's super sketch, the return address given to me in the refund offer isn't the same as the one on the package either. I talked to PayPal and they suggested I escalate to a claim so they can review. So for now I'm throwing this sucker in a desk drawer and forgetting about it for a few days. This is deliberate. I checked Discogs for another copy of this CD and I see a new listing at the same price from the same seller with the same condition listed. I made another Discogs purchase on the same day and the stuff is better than expected!
And what kind of feedback did these bad sellers have? Please list each one of them as you listed the purchases since we are talking details here, you may as well provide a clearer picture.

My best experiences have been sellers in Europe. My worst were from my own backyard, in Canada. One sold me CDs that had clearly been buffed, with missing artwork no less - none of this was mentioned. The other, after making a sizable order, and increased the shipping, showed up at my door, telling me it was cheaper and faster for him to bring it over. This AFTER I saw he was local, and offered to meet somewhere to defray shipping costs, which, according to him, was "not at all feasible".
From March 19-26, I was on a trans-Atlantic cruise and the weather bit the bango root — so I did a fair amount of LP shopping while stuck below deck. In short, I ordered 35 Mercury Living Presence and RCA Living Stereo Lps on Discogs from various sellers in Europe/US/Canada and all of the items were fine. No weirdness. Just sayin’. Man, it was fun to get home and see this stack-o-vinyl!
Not t0o be mean but there hardly us sellers on there anymore. I wanted cd but shipping was to high from overseas.. I just seller on ebay that had it
I'm a seller on Discogs with two stores going and a 3rd on the way. And I like to buy things now and again, not too often but still. I find that certain things turn up still sealed and in NM or M condition. I look at the seller's feedback, their other items and prices on them, and then the length of time they have been selling. And a quick look at their return policy. If everything checks out - then I go for it. If the item is rare or pricy then I might ask a question or two and see how long they take to answer, and what the answer is. I'm having a good time making extra cash from sales and finding some items priced low. The condition was great because I bought all SS, M and NM, no VG+ for me. I can't afford to quit Discogs.
It's sellers overgrading stuff that annoys me. I'm not that bothered about slow shipping, but getting me to pay a NM price when it's no more than VG+ really gets to me, and I'll complain taking it all the way to a PayPal complaint if needs be.
Bought (or rather, payed) for a couple records from a Discogs seller last month, and there's been zero action on his part, even after I followed up two weeks ago - still nothing. The most recent review says he got no response from the seller and had to get a refund straight from Discogs, making me think this seller may have died? His profile pic (which I assume his him) is of an older gentleman.
Hello, DiscoGS seller here, who tries not to overgrade... A mistake can happen to everybody, and I actually have a neutral because of a mistake in grading, for which I could only apologize. But, feedback always tells the story, you just need to read it choose a seller with positives talking about correct grading, good packaging etc. (even if the record costs a bit more) and you won't be disappointed.
I've never gotten "burned" after a lot of purchasing on there. Mostly over-rated stuff now and then which quite frankly is pretty common where ever you buy unless know the seller. My biggest discog seller complaint is about 1/3 the time I order something I end up waiting almost a week to find out they no longer have that record in stock or can't find it. Happens a lot as many sellers apparently don't keep updated on there well. Don't lose any money but a hassle when it happens so much.
