I honestly have no idea from where or how you're drawing that conclusion. I specifically DIY cables so I can hear differences and to experiment. And the first law of troubleshooting - change one thing at a time - leads to subtle changes, not stark ones.

Same sides, just mixed signals somehow (pun intended).

    Cheers and enjoy your music!

And that is so true. It is always the proper match/interaction between components/loudspeakers of Inductance, DC resistance, and capacitance

Ok so it’s my thread so I’m posting this in this thread..lol.

A number of you PM’d me about Tequila, so here ya go.

Facto 1: All Tequila is Mezcal but most Mezcal is not Tequila.. got it? Lol, there are many agave plants. All of them have agave juice that can be distilled and made into an alcohol.
Only Blue Weber Agave from a particular area, can be called Tequila. The process is unique in that it is usually steamed.

Facto 2: If any other agave plant is distilled, its called Mezcal and its usually roasted in pits and not steamed like tequila.

Facto 3: The back of every real Tequila has a tiny certification called a NOM number. That number represents a region and distillery. So if you find several brands with the same NOM they will probably sorta be similar or cousins.

Facto 4: First they press the Pina and make a juice thats call Blanco, Silver... If you rest it in a wood barrel for up to a year, I think, its called Reposada so it picks up some of the wood tones from the barrel like sherry, Bourbon... If you rest it over a year and up to 3 years its a Anjeo, more flavor from the barrel. Over three years it’s a Anjeo.
Tequial has become popular because of the cross over in Anjeo’s because its a Segway for bourbon and whisky drinkers.

Facto 5: There are many fake tequilas.. now what that really means is the Mexican government allows up to 1% additives, this was supposed to be for maybe a tiny bit of olive oil or crane sugar so that batch from batch the sweetness or viscosity was consistent... but it became abused by using cheimicals. Why, because investors bought up tequila distilleries and wanted to make more money and export, so they learned a way to continue to crush the agave to yield 4-5 times more the juice, but when they did that, the juice became nasty and lost flavor and needed to be filtered more and more. So its still called 100% agave but its so crappy they have to add chemicals to make it taste good again.

Brands I know have lots of additives.
Don Julio 1942, 70.. I know, I know. I still buy both they taste great, but know the difference
    Casa Azul, additive bomb
    Corzo
    Porfidio
    Milagro
    Cazadores
    Casa Dragones
Casamigos Sorry Clooney, calling you out.
You know, I’ll stop listing ones I know have it.. I’ll list great ones that dont have additives

G4, Riazul, Espanita, Espalon, Amarada, Petron, 1921, Fortezella, Mexicana Herencia, Aha TORO, Don Fernando, El Fogenero

There are many more I love that I’m not sure about.

    FUNKY54’s best recommendations:
For budget- Espolon Reposada and Espanita Anjeo’s are both amazing values for sipping. Both under $30. I like a tiny ice chip to soften it with say a 5 oz poor

If you want a good Blanco
    G4, 1921, Aha Toro $30-$50

    Great Reposada:
Amarada, very butterscotch, vanilla, pecan and its real

    Great Anjeo’s
Riazul Very creamy, hints of cinnamon, vanilla and dried fruit
Frida Kahlo, very balanced, a little vanilla (might use some subtle additives)
Casino Azul, very hearty, creamy (might use some additives, unsure)

    Extra Anjeo’s
    Espolon XXX
    Riazul
    Arriceffe
    Amarada

    There’s so so many.

A friend recently (yesterday) just happened to gift us a bottle of Don Ramon Reposado. The bottle is etched and looks kinda fancy. Is this stuff any good? I know nothing about tequila.

I had some expensive (to me) Rega speaker cables, sounded good...then one day no sound from my speakers, after hours of checking things I discovered my chocolate Lab
had chewed through my cables........ not having any money I had to go to ..... Home Depot.... and get some generic type cable that looked kind of thick.... couldn't tell the difference....
sounded just like before. Hmmmm.... I don't know why....

Ah my friend... I’ve personally never tried it. That is a very well respected tequila that is highly desired with the tequila snobs. It should be authentic as in the real deal.

Don’t waist it.. no cocktails... I’ll find you if you do. You sip that bad bear in a wine glass. Large open mouth glass.

Tilt the glass at a 45 sniff. Open your mouth while you sniff. Try to think about what aromas are there. Next take small swig and treat it like mouth wash.. wait a few minutes, smell it again. Then and only then take small sip and let it rest in the fron, then the middle and then the back of your mouth. Think about what flavors hit you first second and third. Then after whats the after taste like?

    Let it be a sipper.

The week is off to a lovely start when you can have a very civil "cable thread" that morphs into a discussion about tequila, a product for which I have very little firsthand knowledge - but it still warms the heart :)

Thanks! The guy who gave it to us is Mexican and works as a cook in a Middle Eastern (!) restaurant in Seattle. Sweetest guy in the world and I’m guessing not made out of money. Want to make sure we compensate him fairly for such a nice gesture!

That is easily the most interesting post about cables and interconnects I've ever read. :)

As for interconnects, I've been very pleased with the WireWorld Equinox 8 and Solstice interconnects I use in my system.

I have one of those now (sorry I didn't follow the earlier conversation so I'm unaware of the current status of your dog :( ) - a blue merle aussie male, 7 months old, totally blind. Sweet as can be, but being blind he uh... well let's just say he can go from "chewing on a bone" to "chewing on the table leg" without really meaning to...

Doesn't matter though, he's my best buddy, and we can fix a table leg, but can't fix his eyes :(

I married a gal with this de-masculating little Malteese... (like a 6’5 guy wants to walk that through the neighborhood) I really never thought I liked that dog much. When he died, It hit me as bad as when a good friend died. I mean I was devastated. So empty feeling. Dogs are very special. We have two rescues now.. still didn't get anything manly. But they defiantly become part of the family.

My personal cable journey, fwiw-when I bought my first pair of truly high end speakers (Vandersteen 2ce signature) the only cables I had in house was a pair of Tara labs budget cable,14 gauge. I made up up some homemade jumpers for the interim and promptly ordered some internal biwire cables from the then latest “as good as high end/high price cables” online seller and thoroughly enjoyed my music in the interim while waiting for my new cables. Got the new cables, hooked them up to my Vandies, and....ugh. Hard, grainy and remained so after a several weeks trial. Put back in the Taras with my homemade jumpers and instantly the edge and glare were gone . I sent them back, moved up another price levelin the Tara line (Prism 55) and I still use those cables today with my current 2ce sig II speakers -interconnects are Audioquest Kimg Cobra XLR. Living with them for a while is the only way to know whether a not a given cable is right for your system, IMO.
