How would Brian’s bass playing fit Zep. Especially Bonham. He was a multi instrumentalist rather than a bass player.John Paul Jones’s style fit Bonaham and Zep. Don’t see it with Brian Jones.

The much more interesting “what if” scenario for Zeppelin would have been acquiring Steve Marriott, who could have easily filled the vocalist shoes and well as second guitarist.

  7. Indeed, Brian would have been a better fit there but with his drug abuse, etc. i don’t know if he could have cleaned up and been more reliable.

Bingo. Brian did it because The Pretties were listening to a Stones record and he thought they were making fun of it. Later Brian melted down a bunch Pretties records and left them strewn about before moving out.

No, but Zep should have hired Mike Love when Plant’s voice started deteriorating around 1975.

I always hoped he would’ve joined the cast of “Rainbow” and had a long career as a children’s television presenter but there you go.

No, brilliant as he was, they had John Paul Jones for that. And it was Page's band, at least then.

I've always thought "Whole Lotta Love" could use some dulcimer.

And play what? The trombone? Led Zeppelin did fine without him.

    No!

Brian Jones was shot. He would have lasted 5 minutes with Zeppelin.

Do you think Jimmy Page should have tried to poach Mike Love instead of hiring Robert Plant?

Should Winnie The Poo have invited Brian in for porridge?

Brian Jones was dismissed from the Stones because he was no longer functioning in a band where he was in ever increasing personal conflict with Jagger & Richards. Perhaps if Brian had managed to kick his various addictions and under gone psychiatric therapy HE might have improved things for himself... but in ANY case.. to join a band which was destined to feature several members who would end up in the SAME condition as Brian was in 1969 didn't have a future to it whatsoever. It's also hard to imagine Brian engaging in the same level of conflict with John Bonham or Peter Grant and ending up any better than he did. MAYBE if he'd become a kind of producer/song doctor consultant type among the Brit Blues Rock establishment he might have survived the times, but he was as fragile as he was disruptive. He'd have bounced out sooner or later.

Brian Jones couldn't get a visa to perform in the USA, which I think was the main reason he was fired from the Stones. No way their manager, Peter Grant, would hire Brian Jones. Maybe he could have joined Ginger Baker's Air Force.
